Overheating Issue? Fans kick in on the red??

Hi folks,
I have a a overheating issue with my 93 lude. The thing is the manual says when the gauge hits red switch of the engine but a few days ago i forgot but soon as i noticed i switched her of then the fans kicked in.

What i dont understand is why are the fans kicking in when its red (overheated) and not before? I red that bleeding the system might help but how do i go about that if that is the problem with air in the pipes am not sure.

Any ideas why fans only kick in when its overheated??????
Any help or advice would be fantastic, thanks

Well i found out what the problem was. Lets say it would help if there was water in the system, you may fill the reserve tank but that dont mean that its all topped up.

Bled the system, youtube is great. The following site will show excatly what to do with the prelude engine and how to bleed the cooling system.
