OUCH! Went to court today...

DAMNIT! I went to court today for my 34mph over the speed limit (104 in a 70) and I got hooked up with a 180$ fine, 4 points and a required "driving class", "you son are going to kill someone driving at those speeds".... well i've always been able to get out of tickets therefore I have no points and I currently pay 200$/month to insure my 94 with SI vin, I am appealing to talk to the county prosecutor and hopefully i'll get this resolved, but if not, what will this do to my insurance? I just turned 21 and I guess I should be seeing a tiny break for that?

I won't expect your insurance to go down until you turn 25... and a four point ticket won't help either...

I don't know if this applies to all states or not but in NJ I didn't see a break until I turned 30 (no comments on that please). That's when I saw a reduction in insurance cost from $2600 to $2000. No points. I heard the reduction applies when you turn 30 or get married. That's what the person from the insurance company said anyway (Liberty Mutual).

I think a four point ticket will raise your rates around $1000 per year for three years. Not positive on this though.

Oh boy! Sorry to hear dude!

But actually I think u lucked out w/only $180 and 4 pts. I don't know about MI laws but here they could immediately suspend ur lic. for anything over 30+.

I paid over $250 and they took ALL my pts for an 86/50. They gave me a provisional lic. to drive cuz I told them I would need to drive to see clients on occasion.

Like others said, ur ins. rates are gonna go up BIG TIME and u won't see a break until u turn 25. 21 doesn't do u much good since ur still considered as "young".

Turning 21 won't matter at ALL. Turning 25 BARELY matters (It didn't matter enough to me and boy was I shocked). From what I am told your insurance will only drop a REALLY significant amount after you get married.

You are really lucky. In california if you are caught going 100+ its an automatic arrest and you can get your license suspended. My friend almost had this happen to him but he knew the cop so he wrote it up as going 85.

That's weird. Everybody I know had their rates drop A LOT when they turned 25.

When I turned 25, my car insurance dropped by over 60%!!! I went from over $2700/year in premiums to under $1300/year for the same coverage from my insurance co. And I live in the county with the highest auto insurance rates in PA...

I am not married, I have no accidents in the last 3 1/2 years, and have no tickets.

Andrew

Sorry to hear about your little ticket there dude. Try to appeal and see if your luck may change?

I just went to traffic court this morning for:
Failing to stop at redlight - $190 and 3 points
Failing to wear seatbelt - $110 and 2 points

I was making a right turn when the light was just turning amber and didn't notice there was a cop on the adjacent side of the street. After making the slow righthand turn, he flips his cherries and pulls me over. I was a complete idiot because I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. I do 99.9% of the time.

I pleaded guilty to a lesser penalty before court, but the cop didn't appear. In Ontario Canada, they drop all charges. So I got off with nothing... Guess I was lucky.

Wow..I don't think your friend knew him that well. If I was a cop, I would have let my friend off and take his mods instead of issuing him a fix-it take it.

Well the cop knows the Mother of my friend( And the cop is a prick anyways) so the hook up was already going to be not that good.

Usually, tickets and points work against you for 3 years, and any accident claims for around 6 years... if you go to any of the insurance websites to get a quote, those are the only years they ask you about that affect the quote outcome.

Weenie... 2000 US is A LOT to pay for insurance if you don't have collision coverage. For anybody with a relatively new car, not getting collision is not an option... unless you really want to play the odds and pony up the money for your own repairs. I was paying 1800 CDN, then after I turned 25, it dropped down to 1300. I only have a million in liability though, and collision coverage with a 500 deductable.

You are one DAMN lucky mofo...

In Florida, if you do double the speed limit, they arrest you and sieze your car!

I had insurance like that when I was in the teen years. Then when I was 18 they did a "random" check of my history and then the rates skyrocketed. So your insurance probably doesnt know yet and is just waiting for some "good hearted" agency to tell them or for a "random" check... I would beware if I were you...
