ok honda noob in need of help

hi all i bought my first honda and i know little to nothing about these cars its an 87 lude i got for 470 real clean ..... on the inside anyhow the dude i got the car from said it had a weak oil pump so the first thing i did was start it and listen well it sounded like a bad pump a whole lot o ticking going no in the valve train so i took it out and looked at the oil pump well low a behold rtv all over it so i took it apart and cleaned it all up and reinstalled cause it looked ok and yes with dealer gaskets then i started the car agian and yes the tick is still there so my next thing i did was check all my valves for clearance and they were all on the money . i think the engine is called an
a18a sohc 12 valve duel carbed setup bones stock ??? so my question is if my valves are good and my oil pump is good. can you guys help by giveing me ideas i thought i spun a bearing but the noise is comeing from the top end that much i know this car has me stumped and i have no idea of the reliability or the history of this engine. so all thoughts and input would help alot thanks

well my oil light dose not come on i took the valve cover off and started the car i got oil all over my block soo i got oil for sure .....but i did take off my rockers and cam cap off cause i found some metal around my valves( now keep im mind this car has 242k miles on it) i noticed that my cam is warn but no flat spots and it dose have some scoreing on my oil journals where the cam sits so from the front of the engine i have nice polished journals and as i look to the back of the engine ....towards the distributor they get not so polished and scored up to the last journal that is fubar. i dont think its my oil pump but......?? its possible im getting oil to the top with out any hesitation and my engine compartment is covered in oil now too and my valves are in tolerance according to this damn book ???and yes they are seating (valves ) and no i dont think my head is warped it all looks good to me got good compression and no oil water mix either

just because oil light doesnt come on that doenst mean ****...my oil pump went out on mine & the light never came on. throw on a oil gauge or unscrew the sensor put your finger over the hole & hold, have someone start it up see if it builds pressure & if shes a squirter

ok update i got fed up withthe car so i tore out the oil pan and did a little looking so far i found that the had really new bearings in it and the it spun a rod bearing some time inits life and a dumb idiot decided to just put new bearings in and not fix the issue so basically my crank is all jacked up and scored all to hell on my number three cylinder . so i need a new crank and a new piston rod for my car . which i haven't even drove yet !@#$#@! .......so now my question is dose anyone know what bottom end will go into an 87 prelude i was told that some civics used the same block i was wondering what year and what should i look for ?????? help is needed in a bad way thanks guys
