oil on spark plug threads - please help
He guys, I was doing a tune-up on my buddy's 1999 Civic.
when I removed the old spark plugs, 3 out of 4 had oil on the threads. There was no oil in the boot cylinder and no oil on the boots. No oil on the electrode at all. ONLY the threads had oil. What can this be? The oil was black and there was a good amount of it. It wasn't anti-seize.
I know it's not the O rings or the Valve Cover gasket, because then there would be oil on the ceramic part of the plug as well, and the boot would have oil in it.
His car runs great, no problems at all. After the tune-up, it runs even better now.
What can be causing oil to be only on spark plug threads?
