I just checked my PCV valve (which I installed brand new about 3 weeks ago), and it was full of oil. Moreover, when I shook it there was no clicking sound because the little ball inside was full of oil.
Is this bad? Should oil be in the PCV valve? If it doesn't "click" when I shake it (although the valve is operational, I pushed a toothpick in there and the ball moved easily), does that mean I have to change it again? Could there be another problem?
i know you probably dont want to do this but if you put positive pressure towards the crankcase by blowing on the PCV it should not allow any air in and when you inhale through the PCV you should get air (and mabe oil)
the PCV valve is supposed to vent crankcase air into the intake manifold. Unfortunately, it also lets in oil under normal operation. Best way to solve the problem is to install an oil catch can.
Dont worry though, it is working as it is supposed to.
