noob looking to get into preludes...

Hey everyone, new to the forums and know nothing about preludes. I come from the world of air cooled VW's and off-road racing, so help me out if you can. I'm looking for a lightly modded, if anything, prelude. I'm 17. Maybe some nice wheels but not too much done to the engine because I would like to do most of the work myself, if possible. What is a good site to look for preludes like that for sale? Does anyone know of somebody selling one that I should check out? I live in SoCal.

Thanks in advance,
Tyler

Why is the S the worst model?
Also forgot to mention I am looking for a 5th gen. Are there any common problems that come with used preludes that I should be looking for?

BlueLudeSI94 is talking about the 4th gen S model Prelude, so that doesn't really apply to you since you're looking into a 5th gen. a 5th gen Type S does exist though, but outside of the US of course.

since you're in SoCal, I'd probably look into SCP - SoCalPrelude.com :: Index to look for some used Preludes. other than that, the normal places like auto trader would be a good start.

as far as common problems there aren't very many as the Prelude is a very well built car. you're going to want to get a 5 speed for sure, as the automatics are severely problematic. besides, the Prelude should be driven with a 5 speed because it's a great sports coupe. other than that, just make sure the transmission shifts well, 2nd and 5th gear grinds do happen.

good luck, and welcome to PO!

SoCalPrelude.com MODS only inforce rules on some and not on all. Kyle is a joke.

BTW, Eric Schultz in CA is a known scammer. He did it to me, he can do it to you. Just a heads up. Know as "backinblue92" here on PO.com

Wow thanks for all the info. I'll definitely check out that site. Yeah I'm definitely looking for a manual, much more fun than auto. And thanks for the heads up on 2nd and 5th gear grinding.

Thanks again!

The best advice I could give is to look for one as unmolested/modded as possible. The last thing u want is someone else's headache. Just be careful and take ur time when buyin. Def check craigslist (bought both of mine from there lol) i'm leary of cars on ebay but if u stay local its not bad. Other then that just look around man. Good luck and hope u find a good one

If you get a 5th gen get a base, SH's aren't worth it, I know someones going to get their panties in a bundle for me posting this but they just aren't worth the trouble.

BlueLudeSi94, kinda wrong on that one unless your a dummy who can't swap a motor cause I'd rather not have the worthless ABS system in the 4th gens that constantly fail and don't even prevent the wheels from locking.
