Alright so I just got a 97 Prelude on my 17th bday (paid most of it by myself) like 3 months ago, Black (Very Common Amongst the 5th Gens and I don't like it as much as the other factory colors), Leather Interior, ETC. STOCK Everything. 144K Miles. I Love it. So What do you guys/gals recommend? Towards exterior and Motor Wise, What Brand, ETC. Any TIPS and/or TRICKS would be helpful.
What I want to get by the time Spring Hits-
Intake
Rims
Lip Kit
HID headlights
Carbon Fiber Hood
Carbon Fiber Spoiler
Unless you want to tear into the tranny, you will just have to live with the 5th gear grind. Mine doesn't do it, but it is a pretty common problem with 5th gens. It doesn't really hurt anything, it's just annoying.
What are you looking to spend on that mod list you've got there? So far, that list is going to cost you at least 3k for quality parts if you buy new. (cf parts ~$1k, wheels/tires at least $1k (probably closer to 1.5k), retrofits at least $500, lip kit at least $500, intake $20-$100) I don't know about you, but 3k was alot when I was 17. Hell, it still is. I think you need to take it one step at a time so you don't rush through modding it or have to buy sub-par quality parts.
Oh, and quit hating on black Preludes.

seeing as how you want lip and rims. dont forget some springs or something to lower your car ;] lips and rims really help with the look of the car, but if its still at stock height, it doesnt shine.
mod slowly. it extends the "thrill" period.
when i first got my prelude (which is also my first car), i wanted so many mods. after i get one, it got boring, and i look for new mods. i then realized if i went too fast, i'd either have to spend 10s of thousands of dollars to keep myself thrilled, or change cars.
white and black preludes are the best! ;D (no offense to anyone ;p)
I'll echo what has already been said, it's best to slowly mod a car, taking time to enjoy each stage. besides, if you go slow, you can mod the car exactly how you want it and not buy parts multiple times because you realized you liked something better.

lol Thanks man. And 3g is alot. I do want some name brands, but if i can make/order my own parts and still put out as much as namebrands. I'd much rather do that. I just wanna run all motor. and yeah no rush. I have a feeling im going to have this car for a couple years. haha. and no hate on the black preludes, its just common. lol Thanks Again man.

Hha i see. Yeah, but I hear that preludes have this problem with lowering it. The butterfly effect or something. where it wheres down a certain tire faster than the rest. and some are unfixable, or expensive to fix. My uncle has this problem. but ppl say that if he buys a camber kit, it should solve it. but even the shop doesnt guarantee. Thanks for the advice bro.

and alright, as long as it doesnt damage my car...that much...I'll just live with it for now. and yeah its pretty annoying.

Change your trans oil. Try different brands of MTF.
It won't fix your problem, but the grind might get a little "better" or go away completely--temporarily.
And I wouldn't say grinding a gear causes no damage. There's a reason why you hear grinding.
I hear ya. its like when i hold down the clutch a little longer than usual its fine. but say if i was to get on the highway and swith to 5th from 4th at like 50-60 mph ish, it would grind, idk if its a grind or not, but it definately doesnt sound good. but yeah i'll give that a try. Thanks man.
5th gear rides the highest in the trans and since there is no pump if the fluid has broken down or the level is low it will get the least amount of lubrication. As said, change the MTF, if you do it yourself you'll need a funnel with a 2.5-3ft flexible hose as the fill hole is on the side. Do it with the car level and once fluid starts spilling out it's full, takes 2qts.

maybe someone else can correct me or add some input.
but if my theory is correct, most cars will experience that issue due to weight distribution or the drivetrain (FWD or RWD, even some AWD put more priority onto either front or back).
preludes are 63-37 weight distribution. the front wheels will GUARANTEED to wear out more quickly. an easy "fix" would be to swap your back wheels to your front from time to time, to balance that out. you'll also notice your front wheels always look flatter than your back, mostly due to how much heavier the front of preludes are.
