OKay.. here is the latest update with my '92. I need somemore imput from you guys. It started that my car would not start. I replaced fule filter, plugs, wires, distributor, and coil. Now it will start, but it won't idol. When I first start it, if seams like it's buring though gas (almost choking) and then revving fine. However, if I take my foot off the pedal it dies.
Do I need to time it? Is there yet another part suggestion? Any ideas what-do-ever?
Have you tried adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body?
Also, have you checked all the vacuum lines for any leaks? Over time, vacuum lines can crack.
does it idle correctly when it the motor is cold, or operating temp?

Opererating temp doesn't matter. I had an issue before in which I needed to change out all those parts to find the problem, and it came done to being my distributor. It was rusted from flood damage.
The only time it sounds normal is when I have my foot on the gas.

probably a dumb question, but did you set the timing with a timing light?
Also, have you checked your EGR valve to see if it is stuck in the open position?

I'll try the idle screw... and vacuum hoses. I hope it something that simple...
Would there be any reason to time it again since I've changed the distributor?
When you changed the distributor, did you mark its position before you pulled it?
If not and you just put in the new distributor without setting it in the same spot as the old one, then that could be part of the problem. There is enough play in the distributor positioning to advance or retard the ignition.
Even if you do mark the position, a new different distributor can have variances in it compared to the old one....regardless, you still need to set the timing with a timing light.
Id still recommend checking your EGR valve to see if it is in the open position, which can cause the car to not idle.

did you change out the ignitor in the distributor, or did the distributor come with a new one? That could cause alot of problems, make sure if you take it out or put a new one in to put some more dielectric grease on the back of the ignitor, between the the ignitor and the metal plate it mates with. If there is no dielectric grease the ignitor will burn out.
Another thing is if you dont know where the position of the camshaft was take off the first spark plug and put a rod or something in there and spin the crank probably manually with wrench, till the piston pushes the rod up as high as it can, thats TDC and the distributor will work fine when you put it on then.

What is an IAC, and where is the EGR valve located? There is something with a vacuume hose coming off the top of my engine that popped off. Inside was a medal pin and a small spring. The top is broken, and the spring is gone.
