Yo Mugen, I thought you were getting HID's? Do you have em yet?
Good Investment, saves a ton in bulb burning.

Just in case anyone is interested unless your light bulb explodes inside your housing, touching the bulb had NOTHING to do with it's failure. It's a commonly held myth that finger oil causes the fliament to go out which is untrue. Finger oil or any other surface contaminant on the bulb causes an irregularity in the thermal expansion of the glass which causes the glass to shatter. Just some FYI for those people who think they might of touched the bulb.

I had PIAA HyperWhites for both my low and high beams. Until recently, the set of 4 lasted 2 1/2 years. To me anyways, it was far "whiter" than the Phillips BlueVisions, and the light disbursement was much better. I'm ordering a new set...

I just threw out a Silverstar yesterday. The glass tint was very faded but I guess this happens with all aftermarket bulbs to some extent.

I'm confused about the HID rules too. I was at Car Toys in Plano (TX) last week and they actually install them there They had a cheap looking Vision kit on display for $600

always had my high beams on at night

with the Silverstarts, i barely use my high beams
I don't mind my yellowish headlights. Any bulb with blue, purple or any other color tinted glass is just blocking some of the light from the filament, hence worse lighting.

I had to decide between osram silverstars or philips, and I went silverstars. mainly b/c u can get a set for like $25 at suvlights.com compared to $70-$100 for philips bulbs typically. So I bought two sets, which is still cheaper than one set of philips. Anyway, one did go out after like 4-6 months, but I think I did touch them w/my fingers I think by accident during installation. The other one is still going strong, and it's been about 9 months. Great light output, and the color is whiter than stock too, so I'm happy with them overall. good, cheap blub for $12/each.

I spoke with a representative from sylvania who was happy to send me a free silverstar if I could send them my blown silverstar. They realize there are small design flaws and other prices we must pay at the expense of a bright ass bulb.

Both of my Silverstars burned out last night
I called Sylavania and they are more than helpful, but I'm going to try and swap them for a new set at Autozone tomorrow. If I can I'll probably just try to get in store credit and buy some OEM style bulbs because those Sylvanias don't have much of a track record with us Lude owners.

overall are they worth the $? I wanna upgrade. I had a set of "white" bulbs in my other car and they sucked. I am scared that this is gonna be the same. Can someone post pics of the output that these have compared to OEM so that i can feel more comfortable about buying these?

Agreed... they are incredibly white bulbs for what they are worth. The temp of the light is perfect... every sign in the distance is lit up... completely, vs the OEM H1's would only light up 20 or so reflectors ahead... and maybe make a sign barely visable within 400ft... the Sylvania Silverstars are slightly whiter than the Osram version BTW but the Osrams have been proven to last longer and are cheaper

I usually buy them from optauto.com

Not sure if a sponsor here can get them to us for cheaper though. If so, I'll be buying a set from here...
