I don't think that you do....on preludes it's kinda hard to get on cuz it's off just a bit. I haven't checked yet but I think that mine broke a few months ago and that's why my car is rattling. someone else had the same problem too

is it rattling at......

3,000 RPMs cuz that was the the range that my Lude and my friends lude was doing it at.......he's deaf so he wasn't able to hear, so me and the other members made him aware of the situation so I reved his car in nuetral to 3,000rpms and sure enuff it started rattling........I guess it's some kind of harmonic tone...?
is your car doing it at that range?

I think mine rattles as well when I cruise at a low gear at that rpm. But I know its not the bracket that's rattling cause I don't have a bracket on my down pipe.

Like you said above it could be a heatsheild or some thing. My bracket broke as well. I haven't had any problems yet. I talked to a guy at DC Sports they said just keep an eye on the weld for the primaries. The beacket is there to take the stress off of them. Oh, my bracket has been broke for over 5000 miles.

I also have a rattiling with my Ceremic headers. Makes most of the noise at 2.7k-3k rpm when accelerating. I went under to see if anything was loose, and nothing was. The cat. sheild was tight the the bracket was in place not broken. It seems like the high pitch metalic noise is coming from the flex area of the header. Does anyone else have a similar problem?

I'm thinking its a heat shield, cause I used to hear it when I had my dc cc headers but I still have it and I don't have the headers on anymore.

I had that bracket break as well. After it broke I just bent it out of the way so that when the header did shake it wouldn't hit anything. Just use a pry bar or even a screwdriver to bend it away from the block and you should be ok.

vtecprelude:

Check around the flex mesh for tell tell signs of a leak, look for brown spots that look like rust......or check your bolts to see if there tight......some times the noise sounds like it's coming from a certain area but alot of the noise echos through the piping, you have to jackup your car and make sure it's secure get underneath and have some one crank her up and give it some gas till you hear that noise. Then just track it down.....that's what I had to do. when I first heard the noise coming from my car I thought it was something in the engine bay. Alot of times the heat shields over lap one another and when that harmonic tone kicks in they start rattling.
