major oil leak!, please help!

already searched.

when i left for my buddies place last night, my car was leaving a nice trail of oil behind it.

this morning i checked, and it seems to be coming from the driverside of the oil pan. now, i know that the o-ring from the oil cooler needed to be replaced and it was already leaking small amounts of oil from that.

but now all of a sudden this big stream of oil started leaking from the oil pan area. i want to say its the oil pan gasket, but would it really leak all that much oil? shouldn't it be just drops of it?

also the oil seems pretty watery, diluted i guess. it did rain heavily the night before so i don't if its mixing the dripping oil with water from somewhere.

i went and bought the o ring and the oil pan gasket.

do i have to take off the bottom part of the header to take off the oil pan?

all help is greaty appreciated

It could definately be your oil pan gasket. The oil system is pressurized, so as you increase rpms the pressure builds, and if you have _any_ leak, it will only get worse and it will definately shoot out a lot. However if its a "stream" i would suspect something in relation to the oil filter/drain plug.

thanks for replying...

i just finished replacing the oil cooler o-ring, since it was leaking.... the filter and drain bolt seem fine.

i will now be going to replace the oil pan gasket, i really don't want to take off the bottom end of the header but oh well, there is no way around it i guess

Yup, gotta pry at it w/ a screwdriver... Keep an eye out for any water in your oil! (very bad!)
