Coming back from work today my car shut off about three times. I noticed my oil light come on for a minute or two. As I went to stop and engaged the clutch, the idle just went all the way down causing my car to stop. The car starts right up, however if you rev and let go of the gas it just shuts back off.
Now, I think it might be my oil can or something because I can see like a trail of what I guess is my oil. I didn't get to check my oil level since it's really dark. I picked up 4 quarts of oil and will check/fill tomorrow morning. I just wanted to get some opinions as to what it could be and if I need to do anything besides fill the oil.
I think it is my oil pan, I was completely out of oil, so I put in 4 quarts. I start her up for a few minutes and come back, all the oil is on our parking spot! So now I have to get her towed to the shop, which isn't available until next week..
Anyone know how to remove the oil from your parking spot, should I put water or it or something for precaution?
Buy some catlitter or this stuff that is basically litter but for oil. It will absorb it making it easy to scoop up and discard. Shop rags/towels work too
You can't run a Honda on 1 quart of oil without sustaining damage. The engine probably shut off due to the increase in friction from lack of proper oiling.
I'm not saying the motor won't run fine, but I'm guessing your bearings are on borrowed time & it's going to burn a lot of oil now.
So there was no diagnosis? Just put oil in and that's it?
it's been doing this. Random old ass threads just get bumped/recycled. It happened in OT a few times too. It's not that people are searching for things either... they don't even realize the thread they typed in was hella old to begin with... it just jumps to the top for whatever reason lol. I think it has to do with the intro screen where it shows random threads sometimes.
