LoJack system

im thinking of getting this lojack system but its pretty damn expensive $1000 for early warning system. i love the benefits though and it will give me good peace of mind so i think i might go ahead and do it but ide like to hear from any expereiences from you guys on it. heard any good stories about it, maybe bad? any problems with it, or a way to defeat it? i think its worth the investment if you really care about your car. and is there a way to get a cheaper price such talk to a dealer nearby or the 995 deal is pretty much standard anywhere?

Thanks.

Make sure the cops in your area actually use lojack first.

I have low-jack on my sti...is it worth it, i dont think so....first of all, i have FULL coverage, so my cars covered anyways....secondly, the insurance discount i got for having low-jack was like $20 a year thirdly, if my car gets stolen, i dont think i'd want it back all stripped...even then they'd prolly consider it a total loss.... is a $1000 security device a good investment for a $5k (in my case with my Lude), id say no....just my $0.02

Full coverage does not include any of the extras you put in your car like a system unless you pay extra

insurance would probably give me crap if my car was stolen, so at least with lojack i have a chance of getting it back in good condition. you know what i mean? the money isnt as important as the car itself because i worked hard on it. so im just kinda wondering if i should do it or not and if it yields good results. and if anything, it will give me good peace of mind. that early warning system sounds great, all i wonder is, is it defeatable? and are there sniffer devices out there to be able to locate em?

btw, im gonna call up my police station to see if they have the equipment. ill even see what they have to say about it.

The recovery rate of lojack equipped cars in Sacramento is 100%, or so the police tell me. Sacramento, Sotckton, and other cities in this area are high theft areas.

I called police departments in our area and the Sacramento police said flatly that "It works." Davis, on the other hand, has only two lojack receivers and they will only be able to respond if one of these cars is in the field.

I've been thinking of getting a lojack, but then I'll also need a cell phone becaue they want to call you first to make sure it isn't a false alarm. I don't really want a cell phone, for now.

Personally, I think they need to upgrade the system to also transmit the car's location per on-board GPS, and they need to drop the price.
