Life span of a primary O2 sensor?

I'm going to be replacing my busted ass N2 header with the OEM unit pretty soon and started thinking about the O2 sensor. How long does the primary one stay good for? Some say if you're not throwing a code its not an issue but I read a post from either Billy or Todd saying they degrade over time so by 75+k they might not be working like they should but yet wont throw a code.

Insight?

it threw a code Friday morning of NPM and I haven't had a code since

Well I havent thrown a code but I have a 102k as well so I'm wondering if when I replace my crappy ass N2 header if I should do the O2 sensor as well.

it's like a 5 min job, yes you are taking out and removing the o2 sensor when you replace the header.. but if/when it fails.. it's 5 min to replace it.

so if you have the $65 to just swap it, do it

$65? Where would i get one at that price?

mark, i say swap it out while you have the chance. I am crossing 100k next week, and I am debating a change as well, although I must say that my mileage has been doing a lot better as of late (been getting 300 miles to the tankful for once).

Weird Neel because I'm just over a 100k and the car is burning less oil and getting better mileage then ever. Of course this will change now that it's warm and I'm running the AC.

mine died @ 59k miles... it's been coming and going LONG before that... it now has a code along with bogging/hesitation whatever you want to call it. So please do tell where you can get a primary for $65 thanks.

www.oxygensensors.com sells a universal 4-wire for about $60. You have to wire it yourself, but it's very simple.

I noticed driveability improvements replacing my primary @ around 100k - also got rid of my part-throttle hesitation.
