LED dash lights

I came upon some mini-LED bulbs on this site: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b....31376&next=50

Supposedly they are for instrument cluster applications. Has anyone tried any of these in their dashboards? Sure beats doing the old school LED conversion

those do look nice. most of ours are the twist type, correct? This might make for a MUCH easier conversion

If anyone cares to donate me some $$ i will gladly create a write up/how-to lol

I have red ones. It looks nice. It's not as bright as stock but I usually have my dash turned down real low to begin with. I only did the gauge cluster as I'm too lazy to finish the rest.

I have 5 green ones that didn't fit my datsun.

LEDs are not as bright as a normal bulb. but I ended up using the 5led wedge type in the ludes headlight housing and on the front bumper side markers. those are just as bright as the normal wedge bulb.

I also used the one for the front turn signals, but Im not happy with those, as they are way too dim and cause "hyper" blinking.

you'll get dark spot and hot spots. The stock mounting locations aren't sufficient for light distribution.

grind down the top of the LED so its flat, instead of round, and adjust as needed. Should do a great job of eliminating that problem.

Mine came flat and I still have that problem. It's not that noticeable but it's definitely there.

dont buy them.. they dont illuminate the dash much.. buy these on this site.. the ones that say:

#74 too small?.....#194 too big?.....This is your bulb:

#24 (T6-1/2, T2-1/4) bulbs are 3/4" x 1/4" diameter

http://autolumination.com/74.htm

They illuminate the dash much better.. And all u have to do is take out the oem bulb holders and replace the bulbs.. DONE

I know about that, but when you do that you loose light intensity. The mcd rating is based on the optics that it came with. Changing that part changes the candella rating. No problem if you can change the OEM optics built into the cluster to match your mounting position or adjust your LED optics to match the cluster optics. There are alot of variables for the average consumer so buyer beware when you use converted lamps in the stock locations.

I've done this on a fourth gen. It actually has a blue layer on the backside of the guage face. No problem for that model since the needles can be removed as an assembly. Since the 5th gen is right in the middle, it is risky to remove them and experiment with taking the painted color layers off the guages. On the 4th, I just used nail-polish remover and a q-tip to take off the backing layer and the color layer from the gauges. The white lettering and black area where safely on the other side of the plastic sheet.

How many do I need for the backlighting on the gauge cluster, and which ones of the many bulbs do i replace back there?

Also do these bulbs, "#24", work for the cruise, sunroof, dimmer buttons???

4 for the guage cluster. i'm not sure if 24 works for the other buttons, you'd have to ask oreo, i know he put in some sort of bulb

U need only 4 for the gauge cluster.. number 24 bulbs will not fit in the cruise/sunroof buttons.. I have yet to find a bulb that can go in there.. I think the RSX bulbs might work.. I'm doing research.. Because i want RED.. The other incadecent bulbs will work in the climate control. 3 of those
