Keeping the car for now

Well after researching whats out there and what's to come I decided to keep the 'lude for a while. There's two cars that I'd really like to see and drive before I part with my car, the CL-S 5/6 spd or the new Z. Another thing from AutoNews was Tom Elliot of Honda/Acura speaking of 240+ hp in an Accord. I really want something faster out of the box with a V6 and stick. Until any of these cars surface and I get a chance to drive them I don't want to get something now that I'm going to regret in the next 12-18 months.

Good idea

That's my sentiment exactly. I was thinking about ditching the Lude, but I think I would be doing an injustice to myself if I were to ditch the Lude and buy something right now, like a WRX ro something, without waiting for the new Z car. I very much envision myself getting a Z car and then slapping a Stillen supercharger on it.

Good things come to those who wait.
I want a Z too. The thing is.......I want to keep the Prelude at the same time. Hopefully I'll be making enough money to keep both.

Yeah, I feel the same way, I won't be buying any more cars I don't buy outright so I can keep them when I'm ready for a new one... Course I want all older cars, so it's a bit easier then having to come up with 30k all at once... 68 camero, 94 RX7-R2, 95 Talon TSI.... '99 Porshe Turbo II.... (ok, maybe not the last one ;-))

good call. there are so many new cars scheduled to come out in the next 2 years it would be a crime not to wait.

besides the z, evo, new audi a4, nissan xvl (insiders say it will toast a cl type s), and much more.

too many choices.

i love my lude too much to get rid of it. even though it's kinda of old, it's in stellar shape, everyone thinks it's new, and i love driving it. i'd probably take a type r over it, but other than that, i'm keepin the lude

Yeah that's part of my concern, if I were to get another lude now in 2 years half the cars on the road will be able to spank it. It looks like the mid-priced imports are in a horsepower war and the cars out today are just going to be fodder for kill stories in a couple of years.

That's why if I do keep the Lude, I'm gonna keep modding the crap outta it.

I think I might keep the Prelude after getting another car, by the time I'm able to get a new car, it won't be worth much anyway. Maybe after a while when Ludes get cheap enough there'll be a club racing with them like there is with RX-7s!

WRX' and Type-Rs

I don't know fellow Luders. A Type-R looks to me like just another Integra on the street. When the Boxter came out I thought "that's my next car." Now I see the damn things everywhere and wouldn't get one.

WRXs will be everywhere before too long. Wouldn't dropping a JRSC into your Gen 5 be more cost effective than buying an entirely new car? And you'd still have the uniqueness factor going for you.

Just my opinion of course.

well not to harp on anyone's dreams but i think the new Z looks like ass compared to our ludes...the celica, RSX, and WRX cannot compare to the beauty of our current cars, so i'd gladly spend the 3k on a JRSC rather than trade up to a faster, uglier thing

Well I like alot about the new Z and I have to admit there are some things I don't care for about it as well. However I doubt the production car will look exactly like the concept car so it's still hard for me to judge the looks right away. There are some other HUGE percs to me with it, the RWD, the V6, the larger wheels, and mostly the fact that it starts with more hp.

The JRSC isn't something I want to do to my car, I like the added power idea but I'm just afraid of how long the motor will last with the added boost and how much of a royal PITA basic maintenance will be with one of those on the car.

If my car didn't get hit I'd keep it and get my ass whooped on the street but since it did happen I'd rather move on to something else.
