KAAZ 1.5way LSD

My understanding is that in slow speed turns, the tranny should make a horrible grinding/metal sound as the clutch packs slip against each other.

If I don't hear it (at all), does that mean the clutch packs are worn out or does that mean the LSD was broken in perfectly during break in? It was broken in doing figure 8's for an hour. Previous owner also always changed the tranny fluid with the KAAZ fluid every 10,000km.

when I had my kaaz it only made a clicking sound once in awhile and only when I wasn't turning properly...I didn't really notice it that much. It certainly wasn't 'horrible'

ditto. but then again, i have YOUR kaaz so, of course...it'll sound the same hahaha. i dont think any properly functioning lsd should sound like its trying to digest metal - clutch packs or not.

Cool.. . I read the FAQ at KAAZ too and they said it shouldn't make any noise.. however I've been told by a few that slow speed turns "click"... mine doesn't do anything. I feel it but I've never heard it before.. just wanted to make sure.

I don't know if that really applies to LSD's though. I'm not 100% sure but I think some noise is expected from an LSD.

240 guys use this lsd all the time. They say it's more of a click/clunking noise and it seems to happen to them all the time but it's completely normal. The 2 way is suppose to make even more noise.

from my personal experience on a few cars, i dont really notice much sound coming from the lsd itself. the only thing i could think of that qualifies as the kaaz lsd making noise was when it wasnt engaging properly...and that only happens sometimes on one turn I make leaving my house where i make a right from a stop and the clutch isnt fully engaged, or im at partial throttle....it was just a little clicking sound.

but hey, a full 2.5" exhaust and header with a blower under the hood doesnt really qualify as *quiet*...maybe its drowning out some other noise.

Carol, I think you're right. I just tried it again today, the LSD is definitely there (a little harry as you gotta play chicken while sliding towards the cub in the wet before the LSD locks up and takes over) but it's definitely there as the wheel suddenly jerks back.

No noise whatsoever..... but then again, I also have what most people will describe as a fairly "loud" car.
