Just got CV Boot kit, axle spindle nut came with set-ring, whats it for?? - Honda Prelude Forum

The UPS guy just came and dropped off a bunch of stuff I ordered from h-parts. I had ordered the inboard cv-boot kit to replace the torn one on my car. I went through all the parts, everything is there, one boot, grease, 2 bands, 2 setrings(one for spider and one for intermediate shaft). Then in a seperate plastic bag was the spindle nut and a set ring(with a big endgap). Whats this set ring used for? It looks like it can fit on this groove on the spindle nut, but i'm not sure. Does anyone know ??

It's for the inner part of the axle that goes into the tranny or intermediate shaft. It's a retaining c-clip.

Its not the clip for the intermediate shaft. I already got 2 clips for that. One of those two is for the intermediate shaft, and the other is for the spider. There's a third clip that came in a seperate package with the spindle nut. This third clip is whats confusing me
