Just a few questions about some prelude customizations...

First question. How much do you think it will run me to get my automatic reconstructed into a standard? All I could find was an automatic in my area so I had to run with it.

Second question. How do preludes look with scissor doors?

Third question. Where is the best place to look for aftermarket parts? I was trying to find some different hood mods for my '92 but all I could find was carbon fiber and I'm still debating on whether or not I should go with that.

1. Auto to manual swap at a shop will run you 1,500-2,000 easy.

2. Google it. Or ebay prelude vertical door, or lambo door kit and see one. They tend to be riced out. Have yet to see a somewhat stock prelude with a kit online.

my estimate includes parts and labor as quoted at a performance shop in a chicagoland suburb*

Sorry, don't want someone here to say I did mine for 1,000 or whatever when they installed it themselves or got a mad deal on the tranny and parts.
There's a lot involved in changing from auto to manual. So yes, 1,500-2000 parts and labor.

Of course amount varies on where/who you buy the parts from and where/who installs it. It is an expensive thing to do though. I just feel like everyone tosses the statement around " oh, just switch to manual already!" Like everyone has 2 grand for that.

haha yeah, and well everyone likes to also say.

"If you really want a manual it'll be cheaper to sell your car and just buy a manual"

It's true though.

Especially in newer cars as an automatic can get you a couple hundred more bucks to a grand in value over a manual on KBB.

yeah but i think the closest a manual 92 prelude i could find was 4 states away and i really dont want to go all that way and get disappointed. and a vertical door kit is like 800-1000 dollars.
