JDM H22A in 93 VTEC...

I think I have decided to look into getting a h22a and get rid of my h22a1, from what I have heard they are alot faster, stronger ext. My thing is I have no Idea where to buy it from, I want to get the tranny with the lsd in it. Where can I get one from, thats reputable and has good prices. How much would it run me for this swap. I will do all the work myself.

I was going to build up my A1 but I could spend the same on a new engine as I could just to build my head on my A1.

Thanks guys/girls!

The only thing to keep in mind is that you know exactly what condition your engine is in if you built it up. If you buy an engine if could crap out on you in no time. Just because it only has 35k miles, doesn't mean it's in great shape. It could have had 35k miles when the car crashed and pegged it at WOT for 30 minutes. The import company, reputable or not, has no idea what condition it's in other than a visual inspection. By that time, the engine has probably already passed through 3 middlemen.

Moral of the story--ALWAYS GET A WARRANTY IF YOU BUY AN ENGINE!

i say build. Get some cams. Your going to spend at least 1200$ and for what 3-5hp. Spending that money on cam's and everything to support them should yeild much higher gains.

As for the engines, they usually do compression tests. A bad motor will score low #'s. Just make sure you get them to test it and when you get the motor make sure you test it also.

Im dying to get that LSD tranny also.

why spend $1200 for 5 hp, when you could spend $2000 for 30 hp! h22a1= 190hp
h22a= 220hp

I thought straight up JDM H22A's figured around 206 HP or so...the Type-S with the cams, intake, pistons, etc got the 220HP mark.

JDM H22A's have higher compression and a different header if I remember correctly...this allows them a little better power. You can get some with the LSD tranny, but I've heard that it's better to just get something like a quafe (spelling) and be done with it.

build it up. Dont waste ur money on a new engine that could be messed up. Personally ive ridden in a jdm H22 and a usdm and i dont see the difference. The jdm may pull a lil harder around 7500 but thats it. Build your current motor.

a 92-96 JDM H22 puts out 197hp and the Type-S is 217hp. in japan they rate hp is ps, which is 200ps and 220ps. the conversion factor is like ~.985 hp per 1 ps.

since your in NC check out www.usedengines.com and www.importautosalvage.com
these guys are not too far from you can pick it up and save on shipping and make sure you get a good motor.
