isnt this a bit expensive?????

ok so i have a nasty hole in my exhaust... well, i wouldnt call it a hole... more like, "muffler detatched from pipe"

Really, all i need is a muffler... and i'd like to go back to stock to avoid harrassment from cops. I also figure i mine as well replace the pipes cuz they're kinda rusty here n there. I got an estimate over the phone... this guy says like $600! just for the pipes and the muffler!! im like WHAT?!

tell me this is wrong

edit: i should say this does not include the converter or flex pipe... just the pipes behind the cat, and the stock muffler

well for about $50 more dollars you could go with a nice GReddy exhaust. And since you're worried about 5-0, GReddy products are street legal

^ Greddy and DC's BS isn't 100% fool proof. Many states don't care about carb stickers and many will say if its "modified" it's illegal. That's regardless of carb, noise, etc.

OOo I didn't read that part about the cops. haha. My bad. But if he is worried about noise levels, then the RSR would probably be the best bet if he were to go that route.

yeah the prob. though with RSR or any of them is...Stainless, shiny, big fart hole. That stands out to cops, and they will often pull you over when they see that and only for that.

even an RSR won't keep the cops off you, if they want to F you over they will. I got a ticket a few months ago....told them it was one of the quietest exhausts on the market, and why I got it, they went to the rear of the car and told me to blip the gas. When I did like a 1/4 sec later they said Yup thats to loud. WTF pigs...

quoted $230... picking it up tomorrow.. had some locals put some new piping in, and a stock muffler... i'm assuming it won't be legit stock... prolly some knock off... but i'll repost tomorrow letting you know how it went.

i dont think its a question of legality right? its just that in a cops eyes youre driving a rice burner. youve probably been drinking, you might even have a bag of weed or whatever else you might be into sitting in your center console. it just makes you look young. and young people tend to do more stupid, illegal **** that they could catch you for. theyre looking for excitement too just like everyone else and their boring day job. if you want a stock exhaust you could probably find one here or on H-T. just post a want to buy add youll find one. but dont pay 600. good luck

ok i picked it up... pretty nice work. it's definetly not an OEM muffler, but its quiet as a biznitch.. so i am happy with it. $240 after tax.

The only problem was, once i got about 3 miles out of the shop, i noticed some smoke was coming from under my hood. So i popped it open, and it was coming from the header/downpipe gasket. I know i have a bad gasket there cuz i can hear "fluttering" on acceleration, but would the new pipes maybe cause some smoke until they are "broken in"?

Well, to answer your Q, no the pipes dont need to be broken in. You need new gasket(s).

I would have searched or post a WTB add in our PC forum. There are usually a couple for sale out there that can be had for 120 shipped+.

Oh well, good luck with it.
