Interested In buying a Lude. Plz help.

Hello,

I am 17 years old, my birthday is March 10th, I am interested in buying a Lude. I love lude's. One problem, I don't know jack Sh*t about cars yet. I am learning little by little but I don't know anything. I am planning on going to school to become a machanic so that will help me in the future . I am hoping someone can tell me what is the best lude and if I can get it for cheap? If anyone has a web page where i can check out the stats of the car please post. I am also wondering which Generation is the best? I like the 4th & 5th but can't decide which one. Please someone with experience with a lude please help. If you can plz supply with pics just email them to me if possible. But please have some stats about he car plz. TY

Well, do some reading here. If you scroll through some of the old posts, you'll find some "which gen is best" posts. You can get some basic specs here:

http://www.ntpog.org/specs/

You will probably want a 4th or 5th gen. The 4th gen had the "cockpit" with the wraparound dash, the 5th gen has a more traditional interior. When talking about a VTEC 4th gen, they are faster than the 5th. In '96 (last year for the 4th) they switched to OBD2 which robs some power and detunes mods... avoid it if you can. The '96 and 5th gen aren't bad, though, it's just something else to have to work around if you plan to mod heavily.

The 4th gen will definitely be cheaper, but clean VTECs are getting harder to find. You can always consider a non-VTEC and an engine swap as well.

The 4th gen VTEC was rated less than the 5th gen for power, but they are essentially the same. The 4th gen weighed a little less, making it a little quicker.

I personally like the 3rd gens, but finding one in NJ that isn't a cancer patient might be tough. You might also not care for the 130HP mill that's in it (slow compared to the H22 VTEC).

4WS was only available (in the US) in the 3rd and 4th gens. Europe/Japan still get it in the 5th gen. 4WS is largely good for parking and maneuvering in tight situations. Adds about 80 lbs. if I recall.

how much money are you looking forward to spending?

the great thing about getting a fifth gen is that its discontinued and you will have one of the last ones

Although I am slightly biased toward the 5th generation Preludes, I must say that 4th generation Preludes are beautifully crafted machines, although a little weak in the interior, the VTEC models are fast, easy to modify, and extremely reliable.

Fifth generation Preludes have a distinct look however, and in my opinion, do not need much aesthetic modifying to make it look incredible.

Basically, it all lies in your personal opinion. Keep us updated.

By the way, my 17th birthday comes four days before yours! Happy Birthday!

Yeah, between the 4th and 5th gens, it's all opinion. I am not a big fan of the Prelude dash, but I would say the 5th is a little nicer. You can't just say "X gen is the best"

If you haven't already done this, you might want to check out our "Preludes For Sale" forum.

http://www.preludeonline.com/forumdi...?s=&forumid=74

If you're looking to get car listings online, you can try:

www.carpoint.com
www.cars.com
www.edmunds.com

I'm sure there are many other related sites but I can't think of them right now. Good luck in the search and welcome to the PO.com family
