Installed Fidanza Flywheel & Exedy Cerametallic Clutch. Short review inside

I installed a Fidanaza flywheel, along with a Thick Exedy Cermetallic clutch on Friday on my friends 95 accord. The clutch is the exact same one for our ludes(same part number). First off, the clutch disc itself is pretty small, its a 3 puck with a sprung hub(6 spings, vs 4 springs stock). Install was a real PITA as usual, the tranny is heavy as hell and awkward to hold.

The flywheel already had dowel pins installed in it, and was very light compared to the stock flywheel(which I accidentally dropped on my friend's finger). The clutch itself although it was the thick version(stage 2), still looked to be pretty thin. Maybe the clutch material wears slower, but it was definatley small and thin.

After we bolted everything back up I started the car. A small tap on the throttle pedal already swung the RPMs to 4000 Very cool, this flywheel is pretty cool. So the real test comes. I take it for spin around the block. First off the clutch feeling is not stiff at all; it feels like a stock clutch. I was hoping it would have a little stiffer feeling but its a stock feel; but thats cool I guess. So I drive, take off at less than 1000rpm and I hear chatter. Its noticable but not to a point where its emarassing. I noticed if you take off around 1300rpm you can eliminate most of the chatter.

Overall its a good clutch setup. I would get a lighter flywheel, maybe the JUN ultralight; the fidanza is light, but I could get use to a lighter one. The clutch, although it chatters seem to grab good and was made of very high quality. The car does make a whirring noise noticable in 1st gear; i'm not sure if its from the flywheel or something else, but i'll look into it.

thats all for now...

You can't get much lighter than a Fidanza. The Fidanza is 8.9lbs, the JUN is around 12lbs. The Kaitan chromoly fw is 8.8lbs, and I don't know of any lighter ones.

I cant imagine downshifting with a flywheel much lighter, unless it's a track car...gotta be mr lightening with that lever. Streetability starts to get affected, particularly if you drive in heavy traffic it may take time to get used to driving smoothly and not getting caught offguard with the new feel of the drivetrain

I just installed the same exact setup in my 96 Si. When I let go of the clutch usually in first gear....it will chatter as soon as it makes contact with whatever it's supposed to. It's pretty loud though.......if I shift at about 2500-3000 rpm it won't do it...anything lower it will. It won't bother me only if it's normal.....otherwise...anyone know what it could be?

Also...off topic but......I removed the downpipe as well to avoid any clearance issues. After drivng around for a while with the new clutch the CEL comes on......possible O2?

The Exedy clutch kit comes with a pressure plate and clutch disc.

It could be a slow O2 sensor. Pull the code from the ECU and double-check before you go out and buy new sensors.

i have the light-ass fidanza with the exedy organic clutch...i feel the same chatter but only for about the first 1-2 minutes of driving when it's cold. i wonder if it has more to do with having a light flywheel or if all exedy clutches do this.

Woohoo, I got the Exedy Cerametallic 3-puck goin into my motor; I can't wait to see how it behaves. I've heard it may chatter a bit, but it holds great.

How does a lighter flywheel hamper drivablility? I'm really into good drivability, do you think the exedy cerametallic clutch, and the jun ultralight flywheel would be a good combo. I'm looking for some nice grip, and a little more pressure than stock. thanks.

Yo Yo Brotha!!! How's San JO treating ya. I wish you were down here, I could've learn alot from you installin my clutch, but instead I paid a shop 150 to do it. Yeah, I got the same flywheel, but with stage 1 clutch. I wish it was alittle stiffer than stock too, but it grabs much better. I can't imagine a lighter flywheell cause mine drops quick style and sometimes I think it's gonna drop to 0, and shut off, but it catches idle. Arite bro, hit me up when you come down here for thanksgivin, we'll chill.

Little help?
What does the stock H22a4 flywheel weigh? I'm stuck between the JUN 12 and 9lb flywheel, what would be the difference in drivability? Thanks.
