Ugh, having the exact same issue on my newly aquired 92. Revs up fine but at idle it goes from stalling to 3500 to stalling to 3500 till it finally dies.

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor are all new. I don't HEAR any vacuum leaks but I suppose there could be some.

Going to try a new MAP sensor and TPS sensor. I've been told this is a super common problem but I can't figure it out!

It was my intake manifold gasket. Found out by spraying starter fluid around the base of the manifold and the surge evened out. Replaced it and problem is gone.

My 2001 Prelude with the H22A4 also has weird idle after startup. If the car is warmed up, idle stays at 750 rpms, if I rev a little while in neutral (even if I barely touch the gas pedal) rpms will go up once then drop under 500 rpms (maybe 400-450) before coming back to idle speed of 750. Is this normal ?

i have a high idle at startup & it won't kick down. The accelerator pedal feels like it's on the floor. What's the problem & what's the solution?

wide open-no kick down

I have an '90' prelude with a Carborated engine( dual side drafts). When i start it up,it's wide open & i can't kick it down. I know we need a throttle spring, but unsure why it hangs wide open. I've been told to replace it with a Carborated manifold instead of the side drafts. Any Ideas? would a Carb. Manifold be any different,or even interchange with what i have?
