I need some help, i made a huge mistake!.

hello everyone, i bought a 1992 prelude sr which had the 2.3 L non vtec and the guy said he had an h22a that he would install for 1500$, so without even chekin out the engine (which trust me , i knwo it was stupid) i just gae him the cash, now turns out it was actually a sohc f22a vtec engine !!!!, dose the sohc 2.2l vtec give me any advantage over the dohc 2.3l non-vtec or did i really mess this one up?

Chalk up the mistake. Learn from it, and dump the F22 on an accord forum for as much as you can.

Ah missed the 1500 installed part last time. You could always build a franken motor, my buddy is working out an F22 frankenmotor right now that should make 200ish when it's done at the wheel.

I'll just suggest that you spend a BUNCH of time using the search button and reading through the n/a forum. There's a huge library of knowlege here...

Good luck!

Don't think that way. I understand what it feels like to get suckered; I have been suckered for money than most people on this forum would believe. Do what you can to get your money back, and next time make sure you are armed with information.

if it's a f22 vtec then it's not the f22a1.. it would be the f22b series (unless he mated the sohc vtec head to the f22a1 that came in the S model prelude)

Perhaps.

However, I was just trying to get the basic point across. I didn't feel like getting too in-depth with all the F22 variations.

well i plan on trying to boost the piss out of an f22a1 i got for 20 bucks.. so i'll let you know how that goes
it's really up to you man, but i'd say atleast 90% of the people on here will tell you to drop an H22 in it and just sell what you got. i think you can pick up a complete f22b for like $400, but just do some research and see what they are going for if that's the route YOU wanna go

well, the F22 is a good foundation for boost AFAIK, so you might want to check into that. (i.e. do A LOT of reading the F/I forum)

He could just paint the valve cover red and sell it to some idiot as a JDM H22.
