This thing is badass. It is 2.5" through, and John doesn't make them any other diameter. The welds are absolutely flawless, and it looks so bling bling. The unit weighs about 17 lbs.
I need to buy a 45 degree mandrel bend online before I send it off to my welder, but I plan on dynoing my exhaust system once I get that worked out. My current muffler is a total pile, and it is coming off as soon as I can get my ass to my exhaust shop.
By the way, this muffler will not fit easily on a stock or other commercial cat-back piping. The inlet on the muffler sits high in the exhaust cavity under the trunk, so you will need a section of piping that turns upward after it crosses the rear suspension LCA strut. This is why I needed another section of 45 degree tubing in order to fit it (I have a KTeller cat-back). This is why, when you ask John at Hytech, he will tell you that these mufflers won't fit the Prelude. They can fit if you know how to route the cat-back and the skills to fabricate it.
Incidentally, good luck calling up John and ordering one. John fabs a lot of parts for race teams and whatnot, and average joe customers always end up waiting a long time in order to get their goods. My wait was typical. I placed my order back in the middle of April. If you do a search for 'Hytech exhaust' on this board, you will see that the average wait tends to be around 2 months for single pieces (headers, mufflers), and longer than that for full systems. That is the price you pay for industry-leading fabrication.
I have to wait another week or so for my mandrel bends and exhaust tip to arrive, so it won't be until next week sometime before I get it installed. After that I can post pics of my cat-back in order to show the way the muffler fits at the end of the car.

Please post up some picture of the twin loop muffler on the car and how you routed the muffler in 5th gen, I want it so bad but now sure how to routed to fit in our car.
that was my thoughts. plus you can get mugen replicas off of ebay for cheap. This does have 2.5" piping, however 2.25" does the job just fine.
What you say is indeed true. However, there are some other factors to consider for the replicas. I know, because I considered them myself before I decided on the Hytech:
Construction quality. The replicas tend to rust and fall apart. I've seen hangers break off the canister, and take little pieces of the shell with it before.
Sound. Even being a twin-loop won't save them from sounding like ass
Power. If they are made cheaply, there's a real good chance they are just as restrictive as the stock muffler. Twin-loops are harder to design, and they require more testing to get right. How much testing do you think the replicas used?
Man I sound so defensive right now.
The two things I knew I could count on from the Hytech were (1)Power and (2)Quiet. From all my searching on H-T, I pretty much came to the conclusion that the Hytech piece cannot be beaten in either category. I got screwed by my current POS muffler, and I was sure I wasn't going to buy another piece of junk again.

You're comparing OD's and ID's^^^
I assume Hytech's ID piping is 2.37" and Mugen's ID is at least 2.25"...not that far apart, imo.
The biggest problem with the Mugen is the 1 foot section from the resonator to the cat that necks down to 2". I assume this is partly why Artifex didn't even consider it. I may cut that piece out soon
