I was driving home yesterday, and my car just quit in second gear while I was pressing the gas... My car has about 98,000 miles and since I bought it (72,000miles) I have not changed the distributor.... The car acts like it is going to start when I turn the key, but it won't quite turn over and I get a check engine light... what are the symptoms your distributor is bad?? pls help. btw I have an h23.

it'll sound like metal grinding coming from the distributor.. which is the bearing that's already shot. the cel will also come on. when my distributor went, i got a cel. but when my igniter died i didn't get the cel. so i'd say it's your distributor.

HMMM...for some reason I didn't hear any metal grinding... and I know the starter and battery and alternator are in good working condition. I'm having my mechanic look at it today... what is a decent price on a new distributor if thats what it ends up being?
