This is what i normally do and i'm currious if it is correct.
(Tighten down always in a star pattern)
1. Firmly tighten the lugnuts while the wheel is off the ground.
2. Lower wheel to touch ground, but not fully down.
3. Torque to about 75% of spec, 60flbs.
4. Lower car all the way down.
5. Complete torque to full spec, 80flbs.
6. Drive a bit.
7. Re-torque.
For step 7, are u suppose to loosen the nuts first, then re-torque...or are u simply checking the original torque so that the nut hasn't loosened any?

wow i didnt know u were usppose to do all that. i just retighten all the lugs in the proper order with my tq wrench while th car and wheel is off the ground all at once. it does make sense of what u r doing though. but is it bad for u not to?

How on earth do you tighten the lugs tight with the wheel in the air!?

Easy. Auto. Put it in park, and the drive wheels (front) are locked. Pull the ebrake...and the rears are set. Done deal.
Kool-lude...ur method's kinda overkill....
I just mount the wheel, hand tighten it as much as i can...drop the car...torque the lugs to spec...go drive around the block...and re-torque them back to spec again. The latter part is the most important....all those other steps inbetween...i feel bleh about em...

Well...i don't completely agree. I think the most important step is getting the lugs tightened and torqued to spec "in a star pattern". Although re-torqueing is a must (and I always do it), i have never found one lug nut out of spec. But your points are well taken, and i agree that my method is a bit overkill. Maybe i'll eliminate steps 2 and 3.
I am getting a slight vibration sometime at 50 mph plus, i have recently removed my left front wheel, do you guys think it could be a tightening problem, i did the star pattern, so i do not know what it is. It like a slight rhythmic vibration in the gas pedal.

man losin 40 pounds has officially paid off...YESSS!
bringing this thread back from the dead...but how hard is it to torque 80lbs with your hand and a torque wrench? i wouldnt need to jump up and down on the wrench now would i...assuming i have average strength
Okay I GOT SOME RACING HART C2 EVOS...I was wondering how i put them on...I have that honda wrench in the trunk will that work for puttin on my racing harts??? I thot this would be a very siimple process but all this talk about torque wrench and stuff got me confused...
