Hit a pot hole on the road at the construction zone!! Damage and Lawsuit!!
There were construction workers working putting pipes or something. While driving at 5:15 pm at 30 ml I see something dark across the the road, as soon as I got closed I realized it was a huge pot hole. I hit the brakes and the car skitted, the bottom frame (the thing that's after the front hanger) smashed into asphalt. The jolt was so hard that I thought my teeth were going to fall out. I pulled over and upon closer inspection of the road I noticed that they cut the asphalt across the road all the way to the ground. There were no signs or any warning that would suggest there is a huge hall. While I was inspecting my car all those morans were staring at me. I then peeled out in madness. I was really pist.
Half an hour later I came back to see exactly how big the hall was and it was allready patched and the workers were gone. I gues I'm just gone have to keep a few pieces of asphalt that were stuck to the bottom of my car as suvenier.
I'm going to take the car to the mechanic and see if anything is damaged. I will call the town that is responsible for keeping the roads save and have them fix the damages done to my car, because I feel like there are going to be quiete a few. If they refuse to cover the cost of repair I will sue them. Was anyone else in this sittuation?

That sucks, but a lawsuit against the city is going to be hard.............

Not sure which insurance company you have, but here is my story about a pothole.
Hit a huge pothole on the road, no signs warning that there was a huge pothole up ahead. I ended up cracking one rim and bending another. I went back later that night and took pics of the hole, and used a coke can I found on the end of the road and put it in the pic to show how deep and large the hole was.
I proceeded to call the city of Walnut (the city it occured in) and they told me that that stretch of road belongs to the county of LA and that they had contracted the work out to a private company. I call the company up and they gave me the number to their insurance company and who I should contact over there. Needless to say, there was alot of phone tag going on.
I finally got sick of it and went to my insurance agent (State Farm) and told them what happened. They said they would count the incident as a one person accident (which wouldn't affect my premiums at all since it didn't cost over $1000 dollars minus my deductible of course, which is $250). I gave them all of the information that I had gathered including pics and phone numbers, and they said they would reimburse me my deductible if/when they got money from the private company's insurance company. After about a year of hearing nothing, I was contacted and told that $250 was accredited to my next ins. payment.
So perhaps going through your insurance company and letting them take up this fight might be the more painless thing to do in your case.
Good luck.

My car is lowered. But that doesn't mean the roads should not be safe. Anyways, I'm going to a mechanic today and talk to the workers at that road to find out who they work for.
Your car being lowered shouldn't matter. If you want them to replace your bumper cuz your car is slammed to the ground, then I wouldn't count on that happening. But if your suspension or rim is messed then that's a different matter.
Try finding the phone number to the Public Works agency or which ever agency is in charge for that stretch of road. Depending on where it is, it might be the responsilibity of the city or state. Then go from there...
The guys who were working that night might be tight lipped so they don't have to accept any responsibility for what happened to you so don't count on them being very forthcoming with information.
If you're still able to drive around, I would guess that nothing major was damaged. Is your car still tracking straight? If the only thing wrong is your alignment, then I would just get another one and eat the cost. It would be hard for you to sue them and win since you can't really prove when/where it happened.

good luck....i tried the same thing..you have to sit on the phone for like 2 hours just to find out who is actually doing the road work..and then send in a written report about what happened, and where it happened, anlong with a receipt of work need to fix(rims and tires)....and then wiat like 6 months that you are not getting reimbursed..****in town employees, and towns dont care about us or our cares, or even if careless workers cause damage....such bs.......
I went back to the site and started telling one of the workers that I hit one of the potholes that they left and damaged my car. He told me to speak to the guy in the white hat, he was the one running the show. It turns out they are not working for the city but just some company that puts pipes in.
I told him what happined and he said that the workers mentioned seing me hit that pothole. He then said to bring a receipt from a mechanic saying what was damaged or rapaired, mechanics oppinion and to bring it to him along with my address and his insurance will cover it. That was the end of it. I gues things went kinda smoothly for me in this sittuation.
Literally reviving a ten year old thread...Sorry guys, I just want to know what came of vtecpreludes story. This happened to me last night, Except i was driving through a lane of cones with a bunch of other traffic and i hit a whole approximately 3 feet long, 2 feet wide, and possibly up to a foot deep at parts. It popped my tire and jacked up my suspension, im kind of dragging that tire now so it squeals when i turn or brake too hard. And the construction company sat there laughing and talking crap. Cops showed up and everything...I was pissed
Ive already sent an email to the city council for conditions and maintainence
Just wondering what else to do (call my insurance company or call the construction companies insurance?)
