I've had my car for about a year and a few months and the odo now reads 65k (i put on about 1k/month). I have a 98 SH and I was thinking about my future with my car. A year from now my car will prob have about 77K and we all know how the resale values of preludes aren't that great. What should I do? Try to sell it soon (while my miles are lower) and get a newer prelude with less miles (if possible)? Keep my car and wait to see how things go? Help
btw..do to my financial situation..i dont know how easy it will be for me to sell and find/buy a newer lude
you gotta be kidding me, out of ALL hondas, preludes hold their resale value better than any of them. dont' ask me why, they just do. and now that they're discontinued, it'll even get better.
Keep the car. If you plan on getting the same car with less miles, it will cost you quite a bit in terms of depreciation on your car now, and then tax again on teh new purchase. With the money that you would waste, you could either: a) mod your car or b) save your money for maintenance that your car now would need and then you would come out ahead.
Very good value i mean look at the toyota MR2, those badboys arent that cheap, i had a hell of a time findin one with 94K miles for my friend 92, and the guy wanted 8K... a prelude should be no lower than 13K if not more 2 or 3 years from now.
keep your prelude...i just got a letter from the auto dealer that i got my 2001 prelude that says about the high demand of later model hondas, specifically preludes...glad to be in a prelude
Definitely keep it. Are you happy with it? Honda engines last forever, why are you wanting to sell it for a less mileage Prelude? You'll end up paying way more for the exact same thing, except maybe a different color.
I'd keep it. The way things are going with the Preludes and how hot Hondas seem to be I think you'll be fine with selling it later. When you can buy a new one for a decent price the resale isn't that great but now that you have to buy one used or not at all the value will go up. I was thinking something along the same lines for my car which is a '98 with 56k but it's gaining miles really quick. I'm going to keep it for as long as I can stand it but when it's time I might go with a used S2K or a CL-S 6 speed.
65k miles is nothing for a honda. My 97 has over 70k miles and it still ran strong before I blew the motor, it wasn't the motor's fault, one of the radiator hose popped and it was over heating and motor went to heaven.

Well, the re-sale value for the preludes in Oregon is pretty bad. Trust me on that one. I guess you guys are right..if i sell my car and try to buy a new one i'd be wasting a lot of money. I guess i will just keep my car. I just don't want to keep modding my prelude if i know the milage is getting up there. Does anyone know when (under normal driving conditions) major problems should arrise on preludes? Thanks.
