High Idle after fitting Hondata Intake Gasket

Hi guys,

I have spent the last 2 hours trying to use the search facility and its really frustrating as I cant find the answers im looking for.

I am from Europe and I own a Accord type r (H22A7) the problem im having is after fitting the hondata intake manifold gasket I now have a high idle. When warm and in neutral, the RPM is just over 1000, and occasionally it rises to around 1300 (when at 1300 I tap the throttle it settles back to just over 1000) and very rarely it drops just under 1000 rpm.

It did not do this before I changed the inlet manifold gasket.

Could someone help please as its very annoying me.

Also what is the procedure for bleeding the air from the coolant system ?

I have used the search and found various things of interest but nothing that explains my problem.

have you bled the cooling system? sounds like you may need to reset your IACV and do that.

Let the car warm up and then loosen the bleed bolt on top of the thermostat housing. Leave it open until water comes out.

Did you make sure to completely remove all the old gasket material from the IM and head?

Could be a vacuum leak somewhere. Or the gasket may be leaking if the IM was not torqued correctly or even if the gasket isn't sitting flush enough.

get a new stock one and put it on, if it still does the high idle then its your coolant

to get the bubbles out you run the motor(heater ON all the way) with the radiator cap off untill the radiator fan kicks on three times, when it turns on the coolant level will drop & the bubbles work their way through the system out the top, the 3rd time the fan kicks on and the coolant drops you top it off and close the radiator cap. whipe up the coolant mess

or you can just loosen the bleed bolt like mentioned above ^...

I also vote vac leak. Logical thing to me would seem to be that after you installed the Hondata gasket, when you put the IM back on, maybe it's not sitting flush. Just an ever so tiny gap. Also, did you scrape off ALL the old gasket gunk? I didn't have any vac leak on my car until I changed my gasket on the IM. Turns out, my IM was warped, but there was so much gunk from the original seal, it didn't pop up until I put the new gasket in. Had to get a shop to grind it down.

Another thing... this may be silly, but did you try the idle screw?
