HELP! Major oil leak: h22a1
Hey guys,
I'm having a major oil leak on my 94 VTEC, with ~170k miles. The leak is coming from the rear of the engine, around the area of the oil filter. I thought that it may be the oil filter housing o-ring. I never replaced this o-ring before. When this o-ring goes, does it usually just drip or gush out oil?
I started the car on a very cold morning, temps in the single digits. Didn't know that it was leaking, I drove for roughly 2 miles and my oil light came on. So what I did was I put in another 5 quarts and replaced the filter right there and drive it back home. The light came on again near my apt.
I hear a light metal to metal scraping from the engine when the light was on. How likely is it that my bearing(s) are cooked? I'm assuming I will have some scoring on my cylinders. But my main concern right now in trying to fix the leak is, would that o-ring on the filter housing cause it to leak that fast? Could it be anything else in that area that can cause the oil to gush out? It actually got to the whole underside of my car. Any help is appreciated.
