HELP....HIDs are screwed up.....!

I was driving today and one of my lights just won't turn on. The right light won't turn on at all. I checked the fuse and it was blown (fuse for the right headlights). This is funny because the fuse for the right headlight was on but the right high beam was still on just very dim as if it was sharing power with the left high beam. I replaced it but now the right and left won't turn on at all. When I turn on my lights all I get is my high beams and they're very dim.

When I switch the high beams on only the left one stays on and is bright as its supposed to be....the other light just turns off (becuase it comes on when I turn on the low beams....and is extremely dim....don't even know why it turns on cuz it 's not supposed to...only low beams).

Damn...I think my HIDs just blew and caused everything to go out of wack.

When I put regular bulbs in (fake HIDs, Halogens) everything seems to work fine. Oh well....looks like I'm SOL. If anyone has any ideas of what else to check...let me know....thanx!

EDIT | Anyone know the number so I can contact the stupid company that made these HIDs? It's made by Mcculloch.

Okay let me get this straight, you are running stock headlights? or HID's?

If it's HID's then how old is it, how long ago have you installed it?

I'm running HIDs right now. I installed them about 3.5 months ago.

this happened to a friend of mine. the honda wiring is a bit crazy and it seems to divert power to make the light turn on. just replace the fuse. it will be fine. you might need to replace a HID ballasts. do they come on at all? I'm don't have much knowledge about those though.

I just plugged my HID bulbs into my friends HID kit and they were perfect with his ballast. When I plug the lights into my ballast they don't turn on at all. And if I put in the stock bulbs to the stock harness they turn on just fine.

Is there a way to test the ballast or something....would there be a fuse or something on the ballast or ignitor? Every time I try and turn on the HID lights....it blows the right headlight fuse and it won't turn on.

Anyone have any problems like this before with their HID kit? I know it's not the bulbs......and it's not the harness on the car because that's working fine.....I checked it. It's definitely the ballast. Anyone got any ideas?

The ballast shorts out the fuse as soon as I turn the switch on for the headlights.....even if the bulb isn't plugged into it.

It's confirmed, your Ballast is toasted. from what I gather you have one of those aftermarket HID kits where the ignitor is separate......Some of those burn out so eaily in a short time. My friend has one of those in his teggy, one of the Ballast's died in less than a year.
No offense but those are terribly designed, and I believe they are made of plastic as well.
Compared to the HELLA/Phillips brand, they are way better designed to withstand moisture and whatnot.

Yeah...that's what I figured. And that's exactly what I have.....with the stupid little plastic ignitor separate. Oh well.....are the bulbs still salvagable? Would I still be able to use those with a Philips or Hella ballast? I'd probably have to modify the wiring a bit but is it doable?

If I buy a hella ballast and buy this adapter....would it work? Or would I have to buy bulbs made specifically for that ballast?

Bulbs are salvageable. Yes wiring has to be modded, go to misterjungs.com for the conversion.

One quick question, are you using a relay and pulling the power directly from the batterY?

Damn...I was about to ask about the relay. I see other kits that have the relay......but mine never came with one.

No, I'm not using a relay or getting the power directly from the battery....I'm using the switch that always turns on the power to the headlights.

The kit I received only came with the ballast w/ignitor and the bulbs. Think that might have caused a problem?

This is the exact kit that I have. All it said to do was connect it directly to the factory harness via the adapter plug that came with the kit.

I've been reading posts here of misterjung.com. I hear mixed results. The Kit is high quality but customer service sucks. Most of the posts are from last year or a couple of years ago. Is this still true? I see he uses Hella ballasts which is definitely a good thing (right?). But he just doesn't seem to have the color I want. I'm looking for a 8000k bulb with the nice blue/white color.......I saw the 7500k but they're tinted...and to me that's a .
How does the light color on the 6000k compare to the philips ultinon? Is it too purple?

Anyone know the color temp of S2K HIDs?
