hey guys, i recently took my mugen kit(fiberglass) to get it painted to a body shop along with shaving off the front license plate part. the paint and shave came out great, but i saw an edge of my sideskirt unpainted very little, so i kinda scratched with my finger nails. then...... paint started peeling off quite easy. and looks like no primer was present.

here's the part where i need help.
does the fiberglass kit need to be primered before paint?
i have a great positive feeling that if i get some rock chips, eventually the chip will get bigger and bigger because of paint peels off.

the paint came off quite easy with my finger nails.(not much pressure needed at all.)

if it needed to be primered before paint, let me know guys, so when i take the whole kit back, they won't say, "oh, you are not supposed to primer fiberglass" and blah blah.

seems like they also didn't primer my stock rear valence part when painting either, but paint seems to be peeling under way harder pressure of my finger nail.

oh btw, my lude is a 5th gen like most of you would have guessed.

Yes fiberglass needs to be primered. And you have to sand and scuff underneath the primer. Then once the primer is sanded smooth it needs to be scuffed too before it is sealed, and painted and cleared all in the same session. If you do not sand and scuff underneath the primer and sealer, your paint will not stick well.

Even though my kit came with a fiberglass sealer on it, i primered over it and did all the steps above and it has not shown any problems.

Did you ask the shop to do any prep work or did you just tell them to spray it. cause they will only do what you tell them to do.
