Hawk HP+ pads

Whats the average life of these pads? Assuming they weren't used for the track, just normal, spirited driving at the most.

I think I've gotten about 30k miles out of mine, does that sound right?

I don't know how many miles mine has lasted me, but I've gone through 3 lapping days and almost 2 years of daily driving with them (not including winters).

they dust SOOOOO much.
I pretty much have to clean my wheels everyday or they will turn gunmetal.
Stops on a dime though.

I've had them for about 6k miles so I can't comment on the life of the pads...

But they do dust like crazy. If I was my car, I can drive for like 10 mins, and there is already dust!!!

On the flip side, the stopping power is great!

Yea, they dust like hell and squeal at slow speeds. A tradeoff for excellent stopping power I guess

I had 3 sets of them before going to the Cobalt GTS. My first two sets I really liked. They each lasted about a year which included DD, full season of autoX (about 12-15 events) and 2-3 HPDEs at Hallett. ...then my last set only lasted me 2 months (basically DD and 2 track days). I called Hawk about it, because one pad each side of the front axle came apart from the shoe and destroyed a $160 pair of power slots. They didn't care...didn't even try to give me a discount on another set of pads. So, I said screw them...and went with Cobalt.

I haven't looked back. The GTSs are more quiet, stop better, and I think they dust less.

luckly my wheels and the dust are a pretty similar colour
but ya they dust ALOT, and are pretty noisey at slow speed, espically at colder temps

They do dust quite a bit, I have them. Escpeially on silver or shiny wheels(i have chrome wheels arrr ), it shows very easily, as for squealing, you hear it sometimes but nothing too annoying.

i have a question about what you guys call improved braking...

with my car i always seem to have a problem with locking the wheels, ESPECIALLY in the rain, like i think i could pull more g's turning then braking, so anytime i say dont' notice the car ahead of my stopped, and i suddenly brake a little, the wheels will lock a little, and then i'm forced to pump the brakes

when you guys talk about improved braking, does that mean you can stop faster, like decelerate more without locking the wheels?

how is that so using the same tires and rims, but just changing your brake pads?

They just hold the rotor harder than stock pads - the material they are made of have a higher friction coefficient.

Your car doesn't have ABS? If it does, don't pump the brakes...

it does, but the wheels still skid, i think its because the either the ABS is messed up, or the rims aren't stock size like they should be, like the abs tries to pump the brakes, but the car still skids... so i have to pump the brakes

I'm thinking you should look into new tires, your pads are doing the job, your tires dont seem to be....

they look to have ok tread... but maybe i'll look into it more... they can turn really hard, they just can't hold traction under accel and decel very well

as i said i bet i could pull more g's turning then braking and acceling... i think it MIGHT have to do with camber i don't know

they are falkan ziex's
