My big sister gave me her 97(I think) prelude for my first car, but not before she gave it a propper thrashing, it need work to say the least & I'm look'n for some food for thought.

It needs the rack & pinion replaced.
the motor puffs smoke...sometimes, actualy most of the time.
somehow the back seats & trunk gets wet.
& a assortment of dents here & there.

First I need to fix the front end so...whers the best place to get the replacement parts and anything else that mite need to be checked/fixed along with the rack & pinion ?

My dad said if I'm gonna do it, do it rite, so he's gonna pay for the front end work so I can drive it to work, the rest will be done outta my pocket.

For the rack & pinion, I don't think you'll have much choice but to get it from Honda. Either go to a local dealership or two to get prices, buy it online from a dealer like majestic Honda, or look for someone doing a part out on the forum.

BTW, is the car a 5spd or an automatic?

Automatic, actualy the transmission was rebuilt not long before she parked it.

water leaking is usually the sunroof drains. search for that. either here or prelude power there is a youtube for how to fix it or something.

what color smoke?

might want to save up for a 5 speed swap. probably avoid using the ss mode and just drive in D. even rebuilt trannys are known to fail
