I bought this car from last week. Prelude SH 99, 300k on body. 100k KM on new engine and jdm transmission. It's a great car i like it. The H22a is very fast , sounds like in the youtube videos i watched so many times too I have a few questions which needs to create new topic so i'm sorry. I did search.

#1 - Everytime i try to smell the engine, after few minutes drive, it smells like burnt....its currently cold weather , like minus 2 degree. When i pop up the hood, i can see heat waves and hot smoke coming from the top of the engine.......my car's temperature indicates normal temperature (needle indicates a little before middle)... it smells burns too.

I just changed synthetic oil, coolant is 75% full.....is this smell normal? i know oil are leaking (such as oil pressure switch, oil pan gasket and another part) but this woulnt cause smell would it?

#2 - My ATTS light is on ... the garage said this was disabled before the owner changed the transmission and changed the engine..... is it true? The car is installed with lowered springs but with stock shocks. Can this have activate ATTS light? I read this happens on SH preludes.

#3 - ABS light is on ... Is it that important ?

Now just think about this one. If you know you have an oil leak, you answered your own question here. Excess oil that seeps out will accumulate on various engine parts, which get hot, which then causes the oil to burn off. This creates smoke and, obviously, the smell of burning oil.

It is also possible that you have a blown head gasket, and it is actually coolant burning that you are smelling. Keep an eye on your coolant level, if it drops, then this is your problem. Also, white smoke = burning coolant, blueish-grey smoke = burning oil.

If you have an H22a swapped into the car, then no. No ATTS for you. You would have to swap back to a SH or Type S engine and transmission to get it to work again.

Thank you ,i'm gathering the parts. I did not know that oil leaking will cause smell ! You are right, garage says i need to replace oil filter cooler seal, oil pressure switch and oil pan gasket. The radiator leaked a bit but i stopped it with "Stop Leak" coolant product.

How serious is the oil leak? The H22A in my Accord decided to blow the oil cooler o-ring one cold morning on my way to work (luckily, I caught it before I even got out of my neighborhood lol), and it SPEWED oil... Fix those leaks ASAP, and give the engine a good cleaning to remove any other oil residue that would burn off and smell bad.
