h22 auto to manual tensioner swap

ive seen all the parts lists and ive seen all the step by step. i just finished dropping in a 99jdm h22 in my 92 prelude si. i also just finished the h22 auto to h23 manual tensioner conversion. ive read that the timing belt will be really tight but mines is too tight. my timing belt is moving towards the end of the cam gears and rubbing inside the valve cover. my motor also has a whine to it. its pretty annoying, ive tried to loosen the belt but its at its loosest. everyone who has done this swap please let me know how you did it, or please give me some advice before i quit on this project. ive tried honda-tech but ive gotten no answers. please help if you guys can. thanks.

Hmmm that sucks, don't quit, you're so close it seems. If you searched and searched on ht and here and couldn't find your answer and you don't get any responses here, try NTPOG Forums - Powered by vBulletin and asking there. Billy and Todd know just about everything there is to know on the ins and outs of preludes.

I had a reputable shop around here do the engine and tensioner swap for me. Do you got any good shops around there that you could tow it to to see what's going on?

Did you hand turn the assembly a few times before firing it up? I know when we did Ray's car (Joon525) the belt wanted to walk off the cam gears (auto tensioner) and after making a few turns by hand it seemed to "seat" itself and was fine ever since.

hey man im havin a problem with my conversion.
it looks lyk the belt comes off a lil bit and the belt isnt loose its nice an tight..
i had some one do this for me an im only missing one bolt that wasnt able be put because my oil pump didnt hav the hole for that bolt that levers the tensioner.
do u think that could be the reason my belt keeps wantin to come off.
or wat do u think.. let me kno if u kno sumthin or sumthin.. plz.. thax
