gc/kyb agx or tein basic?

here's my take,
pro for gc/kyb agx:
1. adjustability
2. cheaper although not enough to be a big factor. only $40 when i was looking for deals
3. a lot of people have this combo, loads of support and feedback
con:
1. can't withstand extereme drop, some people have bad experience but i do believe they went past the 1.5" warranty mark. hopefully i won't see this problem with a 1" drop and 400f/300r spring rate (original gc setting)
2. it ain't teins (quality and bragging right? )

well, i think they are both great ways to blow $600-700 on suspension, i would've gone either way but decided on the gc/agx. just want to see what people think.

Don't much care for either setup, but if I were in your position I would get the basics.

First:
IMO, the most important aspect of any suspension system is the proper match between spring rates and shock valving. You won't get this exactly right with Konis, AGXs, or Illuminas, regardless of how "adjustable" the system is. Because the Tein Basic dampers and springs were designed together, they should offer a reasonable match.

Second:
Tein offers a more solid package, no loose threaded collars, no mismatched dust boots, no guessing about bump stops and proper spring seating.

That said, go Mugen Showa.

If you're only looking for a 1" drop than I would agree with obrigado and go with the MUGEN showa because they offer the 1" drop and MUGEN = quality. And I don't think you'll get an exact or proper match between the gc/kybs or any other combo out there. If you want the something thats meant to be exact and together, than I would go with the TEINs.

Another vote for the Showas, they sound very well matched to what you are looking for.

And there just so happens to be a set for sale, for around $700!

I'd be a little weary of just assuming MUGEN = Quality. The design and valving specs are definately quality, but they are manufactured by Showa to what appear to be the same standards as the OEM shocks. They ship with JDM OEM top mount hardware, the only difference is slightly harder rubber in the mounts.

Mugen Showa = Stock quality manufacturing. Which is, don't get me wrong, extremely good. Tein quality is also excellent, with a much beefier shock body and a thick, substantial powder coating.

i did think about the "togetherness" of teins and other full coilover, i guess that'd go under quality in my comparision. as for showa, it's over my price range for a new set of suspension, that deal at parts classified is really good though, someone jump on it. hmm...... i thought there would be a lot of people pulling their hair out between these two?
