yOo what up, i just got my new act clutch and i was thinking about getting a flywheel. what do u think is the best fly wheel out there for the 5th gen. cuz i have no clue when it comes to flywheels..thanks 4 the help guys
from what i've heard fidanza flywheels are good, but the best is JUN lightweight (11 lbs), or ultra light weight(10 lbs). ACT makes lightened flywheels too, or they used to. They take your stock flywheel and reduce the weight. The JUN and fidanza are forged chromoly, very high strenght. But i asked my local speed shop on flywheels and they told me they don't recommend it for street use.
The upside is that your engine will rev quicker due to the less rotaional mass, but on the same token if you go to light it will negatively affect your daily driving. It will tend to fel as though you have lost a little on the bottom end and can make launching a little more tricky.

not flaming just some corrections to this info...
Jun lightweight is about 12lbs Jun ultralight is 11lbs...
Fidanza is about 8lbs
Jun is chromoly
Fidanza is aluminum
did your local speed shop give a reason as to why they dont recommend flywheels for street use?

any shop recommending not to use a lightweight flywheel on the street doesn't know crap about hondas.
for everyone on this board using a lightweight flywheel, they'll tell you it's amazing. best cash they've spent on the car. i used to run a clutchmasters (same manufacture for clutch masters) and compared to the stock 20+lb. flywheel it's night and day. you can seriously feel the difference right away.
just had a lightweight jun flywheel too, but sold it to adnrew klucarits from this board in philly. oh well, he's gonna love it. killer deal on that unit too.
The clutchmaster flywheel is the best buy, it's cheaper than the fidanza and its basically the same thing. They're both manufactored in the same building and you can't tell them apart besides the logo's. Clutchmaster's worked a deal with fidanza to manufactor their flywheel. Look on groupbuycenter.com I got mine for 280 with free shipping.
Anyone have any idea what some average 1/4 mile gains you can get from a lightened flywheel?

Do a search on flywheels in Superhonda.com they have a HUGE multipage discussion on which flywheel is best... someone there actually wrote each manufacturer and some of those manufacturers responded with pros and cons of the different flywheels... After reading up on everything available i've decided upon the Jun Ultralight flywheel... Do your own research and decide for yourself what is best...

On an sh I believe that the only two you can go with are Fidanza, and Jun. I researched the clutchmaster for my car and they said it will not work on an sh for some reason. I know there were some sites you could purchases it from that stated the same. Good luck
why would there be a difference in flywheel design between base and SH? Clutchmaster flywheels are supposed to be the exact same as the fidanza flywheels.
I don't know as to the differences if any...all I'm stating is what Clutchmasters told me when I went to purchase one. Maybe they don't want to put the r&d into it, or they just don't care? I'll see if I can find some info somewhere.
Someone can spend $600.00 on having Honda pull the transmission just to see if it will work, but it wouln't be me. If clutchmasters say they aren't designed for the sh and cluthmasters design them then I'm not going to argue. Any guinee pigs?
