do any of you guys' cars do this? (preludes) if so, how did you get it to do this? Or, does it just "do it" when you take off the cat? I have I/H/E and was about to take off the cat and was wondering if this would happen as it could have very BAD effects...
That is called backfiring. When you are sending excess fuel to the engine and quit giving it more fuel, most of the fuel get sent back into the return line but the little bit that is left goes through unburnt and ignites late in the exhaust usually muffled by the cat. I have a JRSC and 2.5" test pipe instead of a cat and when i had a straight through muffler, i could fireball people at will just by boosting and shifting hard. If you have restrictions in your exhaust, it will either clean out your muffler or break something inside it or create an exhaust leak if there isn't enough flow.
right now i have a dc header, aem cai, stock cat, and a 2.5" custom piping with a N1 muffler....if i just put a test pipe in place of the cat or just put a pipe in place of the cat, would it fireball someone?
