Since I have received so many questions regarding the Accord Euro R manifold, here are some pictures.

Here's one of the US spec manifold:

Euro R:

US:

Euro R:

US:

Euro R:

You can see that the Euro R manifold is much smoother, and much more efficient than the US spec manifold.

Wow! Will that bolt right on to the 5th Gen prelude and why, if it's better, doesn't Honda put juicy stuff like that on our versions??? The quality really looks good! Makes the stocker look very "domestic"...

Also Billy... after seeing all these pics, I'm going to predict that your marriage will last only slightly longer than your registration here (j/k)

Keep em coming!

Eh, it cost me enough!

Everything has to be replace, IAC, IAT, throttle cable bracket, fuel rail, fuel rail studs, brackets, etc. Nothing from the US Spec manifold fits on the Euro R manifold except the throttle body.

It does bolt right up to the head, though.

There are no secondary runners, so I suspect the Euro R might lose some low end, but it will make it up on the high end.

If you notice on the US spec manifold, the air path makes a 90 degree bend, but on the Euro R manifold, the air path is much straighter. The bends are also much more gentle.

Hopefully my marriage will last longer than my registration! Guess where these pics where taken......dining room table!! I had it covered with a big carboard box, though.

Bahahahaha!!!! Too funny! Hey - is there a Wives of Honda Owners Board here somewhere??? They could have cool threads like:
"We're not going anywhere again this weekend because HE just bought a CF Hood...!!!" or "How often does your hubby wash that POS Prelude?"
or "10 things you'd like to do to his Prelude just to get attention"

LMAO !

WOW! Thanks for the pics. I guess the euro R intake and the lude's intake are different, in the same way the Type-R, and the GS-R's intake are different. So, I'm guessing the Euro R intake is one stage like the type R's is. Does that account for the low end loss, and high end gain?

LOL

I don't know the exact price, I haven't received the bill for the headwork and bottom end work yet. I will put it this way, NOT CHEAP.

Now, if you think that having car parts on the dining room table is bad, check these out... damn, I like posting pics....haha

dining room table:

kitchen counter:

fireplace:

You don't want to see the garages!! Stuff EVERYWHERE.......

Although I do have a PE that the buyer might flake on me, so it might be up for sale again soon....

coo stuff..
i've looked at this some time..

but personally i prefer the S spec from prelude issue..

it's a direct bolt on on our engine..no need to change everything..

the air path is as smooth as on the euro r one..

but it retains the 90deg like the lude..
so only provides more air but doesn't move th power up though..

all depends on the application u looking for..

neway..cool stuff

Oh, as for power gains...similar setups have yielded 215 at the wheels, but without the Euro R manifold and the bottom end work that I am doing. I am hoping for a bit more, but that will come with tuning.

You eagle eyes out there will notice a set of Unorthodox cam gears and a VAFC sitting on the kitchen counter...

Yes, the Euro R intake is a single runner (i.e. no butterfly valves), like the ITR intake manifold.

Oh, and you single guys, don't get me wrong, I am not married YET. In a couple of weeks, I will be married, and she has said, ABSOLUTELY no car parts in the apartment!! Gotta get this crap cleaned up. At least we agreed that the garage is 100% mine, and she can't say anything about how it looks.

From what I have seen, the S-Spec or Type S manifold is the same as the US spec manifold. It uses butterflies and dual runners. It's a waste of money to buy one, just get the US spec manifold ported.

Billy, where did you order the Euro R manifold from? And can you list the addition parts that are needed to be replaced or add on?
Thanks in advance.

It's expensive. You need to get everything that attaches to the manifold, except the throttle body. All the sensors, the fuel rail, IAC, etc. I haven't added it all up, but it's probably close to, if not over, $500.

As of right now, we don't know if it will work or not because the fuel rail is different, and I am hoping that it still fits Prelude injectors.

I forgot to add, I wouldn't put it past shops to charge $750 or so for this stuff. They mark JDM stuff up like mad.

I remember reading a post saying that Type S cams were going for $700 or something nuts like that. They only cost about $450 in Japan, and that's retail. I don't know, I just don't like that the shops get this stuff, then they tack on another $100 for pure profit. It's giving the customer the shaft to me. Maybe you pay $450 for the cams, which is about $475 after tax, then they will probably ship it by boat with a bunch of other stuff, so say $525 after shipping (probably closer to $500), sell them fro $700, instant $200 profit!!

Same goes for JDM foglights. In Japan, they are 25,000 yen. With today's exchange rate; $215. I have seen them go for as high as $400 or $500.

The list goes on. Don't even get me started on Type S pistons.....

Now, I have seen good prices, don't get me wrong, well, I should say, prices that aren't half bad. I saw an SiR valve cover (blue) for $229 at a shop. I am getting one for $190, but that includes the valve cover gasket.

I am not trying to come down on all shops selling JDM stuff. There are good ones out there (www.jdmhondaparts.com is one of them). It's worse around here in Dallas. A shop has a Type S throttle body, and they are telling my friend that it's bored over Xmm and it will give him X hp. Yeah right, the Type S throttle body is only 2mm larger, and you probably won't get any hp out of it without other mods. Worst part is, they way $650 for the TB. You can get a Spoon ITR TB for less than $500.

Now, before all you shop owners flame me, I am not saying ALL shops do this, but the majority I have seen do. Of course, you will say "the customer is willing to pay a premium price," but that doesn't change the fact that when you are marking the stuff up 100% you are ripping the customer off.

Sorry guys, just had to get that off my chest.

I hate to say it, but I can't get these parts for you. I can't ask my family to send over 25 sets of JDM foglights, 50 intake manifolds, etc. etc. If I ever do work something out, I will let you guys know.

yeah, i hate that, it's like when a retailer buys parts from a distributor and then has the NERVE to sell them to you for more than they paid. it's called expenses, and it's called profit. they're entitled to it. i seriously doubt the people running these shops are rolling around in ferrari's and living in $5M homes.

When a part cost $450 overseas (retail), and they are selling them here for $700, I call it gouging. Yes, they have a business to run, and I understand that. I am also entitled to my opinion.

Just like you would probably complain that the Honda dealer charges too much to fix your car. It's the same concept.
