It's been trying to self calibrate for a while but I could get it to clear no problem by turning it off. Now everytime I turn it on it gives me that "service required" message. Any clue what the hell is going on?

Call up Escort. If I'm not mistaken, it might need to be "updated". I know Valentine1's do this, so my guess yours might need it too.
