while in the process of re-building my engine, i would like to replace the crank pulley .. thing is
crank pulley for a 92 si is around $116 (h23)
crank pulley for a 01' base is $79 (h22)
i was wondering if i would be able to use a h22 crank pulley in a h23...
also.. is it nessesary to replace the crank pulley? engine had 85k on it and i do see little cracks on the rubber inside piece
any help would be greatly apreciated
tahnks

i dont think you have to replace the crank pulley. Are you talking about the crank shaft main seal?

I can't answer your question about replacing the crank pulley due to age, but it definitely can't hurt.
As for parts interchange, the H22 uses a 6 rib A/C and alternator belt. The H23 (and F22) use a 5 rib A/C and alternator belt. I have heard of people running 5 rib belts on H22 pulleys (from JDM engine swaps) without problems, but I don't know how the belt does for the long term.

i have been running my 5 rib belt for almost 2 years now with no problems.
I know from experience that the pulley on the F22 and H22 are the size, they are built a little bit differently but there compadable

i guess if i went with the h22 i would be saving $30 but then i would be putting something on the engine that wasn't originally there..
i might as well spend the $30 and use the right one.. figure you put over 1200 into the engine plus a year of labor.. no point to save the $30
but thank you everybody for helping me out with this question

Why not replace it with an aftermarket pulley while you have it open?

worried about pre-mature bearing failure
aftermarket ones don't have a harmonic balancer

From most of the posts I've read, this has never been an issue.
