connecting rods

which rods are stronger the eagles rods or crower? eagle seems to be cheaper than crower but sometimes prices dont mean crap. by going just by the looks the eagle seems stronger. eagle claims their rods were tested up to 600hp w/o troubles and i cant find out stuff on crower rods.

I'm wondering why there is a 300 dollar price difference between the two (Eagle & Crower). That could pay for 3/5th's of my RevHard manifold. Is Crower's name enough to warrant the extra 300 bucks?

im thinkin that your just paying more b/c of the name on crower but i just want a good product that is strong and not b/c of its name. im just not sure on it. i think i might just get the eagle. but i dont hear to much about them. if anyone knows the biggest difference in quality on them please post it.

The 2 rods are made of different material. The crower are forged grade 8 Steel, and the eagles are forged mild steel. Both are very strong. The reason the Eagles look beefier is because they are an H beam design and the crowers are an I beam desgn. In some cases the Eagle rods will require that you or a machine shop put notches in the bottom of the cylinder for clearnace. Both are very good units, and can handle some big power. but the extra 300 bucks saved could possibly be spent on notching the block to fit the eagle rods. So, there may not really be any savings at all.

Got it! Thanks, Doc!!! I'll just roll w/ the Crowers, but I'll research further. Crowers seem the way to go.
