compression test results!!!!

my friend and i did a compression test last night and here were my results....

94 JDM H22A from www.hondamotorsonline.com

250/250/250/250

is that some good sh!t or what!?

that was a dry test done with all plugs removed and fuse #4 from in car fuse box pulled so no fuel was delivered. the motor was warmed up to operating temp and then set for about 5mins.

i was really impressed. what have you seen other jdm h22a's put out???

test

225,225,225,165!!!
After three trips to a Honda dealer I went to an independent shop and found out a bent rod is causing the low compression in cylinder #1.
Lesson learned: If you have CAI use the bypass valve.

the tester we used was bought from sears and cost was around $25...not too bad. the test is simple to do, no need to pay to take it somewhere

sorry to jump in but...

usually you wont really noticy anything much because it is a constant loss in power. whereas if a sensor is freaking out, you will feel inconsistent losses of power. a buddy of mine had some rings not seat well in his ls/vtec and one cylinder was hardly holding any pressure, but we could hardly tell driving the car, except for some smoke coming out the tailpipe. you couldnt physically feel it from driving/riding in the car though

If you dont feel like doing the compressions test yourself, it usually runs around $35 at a autostore, that contains a garage ( Pep Boys)

i used to drive a 88 celica hatch. i drove it for about 2 months on 3 cylinders, when I finally realized that one of the cylinders was out, and I got it fixed it felt like I put a turbo on the car.

cylinder 1

I didn't really notice much power loss, just a slight irregular pulse at idle. This would get worse if you sat in traffic. Hondamotive finally diagnosed the problem, said the piston was 1/8" lower than the others. They were suprised that the motor didn't knock, and the dealership didn't notice anything unusual (besides the low compression). Now I have to put in my resonator to get the insurance appraisal, they said it would be considered collision because I was moving, which means higher rates.

As far as how much water. It's hard to tell, I was below 2000 rpm and the car died instantly. The water wasn't even touching the RS sides, but a freight truck drove by on my right and made a huge wave, and I think the greddy lip helped funnel it into the lower grill/fender area.

FYI: If you have a harbor freight tools in your area you can get a compressions testor for $15.

Pretty good deal. That's w or w/o shipping?

How can they do a compression test though, since the motor is not hooked up to a chassis?

My shop told me the only thing they chk for is the spark plugs and how its burned.

that price was without shipping because i drove there from arizona in a friends pickup truck to pick it up. i got to hand pick from 4 jdm h22's with lsd.

some of steves motors are in front clips and he CAN start them up to check compression.

Umm don't those seem high? Maybe your cylinder is full of carbon deposits...
