Clutch fluid leak + bad master cylinder

I've got a leak from somewhere on the transmission side. I leave a small drop of fluid in my garage if I let it sit overnight. Has anyone had any leaks from this area? Could the clutch damper be leaking? The slave cylinder is new and it does not seem to be leaking.

Also, on 2 occassions I've lost pressure in the clutch pedal. It still disengages, but it does so very very close to the floor. If I pump it, it goes back to normal. Sounds like a dead / dying master cylinder?

Probably a rear main or driveshaft seal if you can't determine otherwise. I've never seen a clutch damper leak.

If you've lost pressure that's likely a clutch hydraulic leak. If the master cylinder isn't relatively new, just replace it. The master and slave usually die within a few months of each other.

I replaced the rear main seal when the motor was out of the car, plus the fluid thats on the floor is really clear, like brake fluid.

Do you trust those Autozone / Pep Boys master cylinders?

I've used a brake master cylinder from Pepboys or a local auto supplier. No problems yet.

As for your problem, it could be a hole in your clutch line. There's a short rubber line above your tranny, near the slave cylinder. Kind of a PITA to get to. I had a very small hole in there. When I press and hold the clutch down for a while, and then let off and push again, it gets very soft. I'll go through a reservoir in about a week. I never had a puddle under the car though. This is worth a check though.
