clank clunk rattle (noises my cat convert makes)

so i am trying to figure out what oem style cat to get, because i dont want to weld anything.

http://www.all-catalytic-converters....onda&year=1998

i want to be able to pass smog -- should i go for the 13" converter unit, or the 15 7/8" converter unit?

I just replaced my cat the other day after about two weeks of clank clunk, pieces of porcielin(sp) started coming out my muffler! I replaced the stock cat with a Magnaflow High Flow cat. It is OBD-II compliant and C.A.R.B. Certified. The car runs better than it ever has, really completed my whole exhaust setup minis the a header. Fuel mileage has also improved. I was hell bent on welding it in, but instead I clamped it and is does not leak, may weld it later. Hope this helps

well the thing is i don't want to mess with something that doesn't have flanges.

i called this website that i linked to above, and they said they could not send me a cat to california because there was a $50,000 dollar fine

I didn't have any flanges to worry about. The previous owner had the cat replaced about 5 years ago and whoever did it just welded it in. So when I had the rest of my exhaust done I just had to old cat welded back in but it took a crap about 3 months later.

i think its a law in cali that you can't change your converter until 10 years have passed. you'd have to have it done at a shop i think. or have your order sent to somewhere else and have them mail it to you

carsounds makes one that is obdII and epa compliant for cali laws, but i still think even tho it passes it might be illegal for you to change it.

FS: Replacement Cat

that guys got one for sale, just an oem replacemnt, and since hes not a company i'm sure he'd ship it to you
