chip guard

Does anyone know what this stuff is? I am trying to find some but when I go to yahoo all i get is that clear plastic stuff they put on new cars. I am looking for a paint called chip guard that you put on fiberglass so it doesn't chip as easily. If you know where to get some let me know or if you knwo of a way to make it so it won't chip elt me know.

I had it on my old car on the hood and fenders and that stuff kicks ass man. No paint chips whatsoever. It came on the car when I got it, but I believe it's made by 3M and it's called stone guard or something like that. Hope that helps.

Hey theres a body shop out here in MA that will apply this clear film over your car garanteed to keep rocks and suck from ruining your paint, for a fee of course but very good stuff made by 3m also.

It is called chip guard and it is applied to front bumpers, hoods, rocker panels. Stone guard can be textured or smooth depending on the location.

What do you think is better, the paint or the plastic? I have teh octane front eend so I would probably need the paint for that and the BW sides at the wheel well would need the paint but I could use the plastic for the hood and mirror.

go to www.xpel.com or type chip guard in yahoo. Do some searching for what you want. I don't know if I want the paint or the plastci yet.

I've done some research on this before. Here's a few places that have the 3M type stuff.

Invinca-shield
Delux kit = $94.

Stoneguard
Full kit = $364.

Xpel
Full kit = $305.

You can also buy strips of the stuff if you want to trim it and do it yourself. I watched the video on invica-shield's site on installing, it didn't look too bad. I'm curious how noticible it would be on a NBP car though.

Now with the plastic overlay type pieces, can you see where the strips end? I don't want visible lines all over my car from this stuff.

If you go to the Honda dealer you can see it in person. This stuff is really thin so if your looking for it you can see it but normally you can't.

With this plastic stuff, can you wash it normally and use clay bar, polish and wax?
