Car lunges forward on slow acceleration

Here is a paste of a chat with h7y, I'd like your guys' input as to what you think it could be, h7y thinks I'm nuts.

h7y : soo... someone owes me 3 paypal dollars
Jape213 : yeah yeah yeah
Jape213 : gimme address
Jape213 : ey, I noticed today, when in like 2nd or 3rd gear, when I slowly accelerate, (creepin) I can feel in my ass my car moving forward quickly and then idle, move forward quickly and then idle, but its really really subtle
Jape213 : i put 17" rims on today
Jape213 : but back when I had them on before I dont recall this happening
h7y : so like it accelerates
h7y : and then it lags?
Jape213 : well
Jape213 : say i'm in 2nd gear, 2k rpm
Jape213 : I SLOWLY accelerate to 5k rpm
Jape213 : and I feel in my butt as the RPMS steadily going up, I feel in my butt the car lunging forward.. and then forward again
Jape213 : every couple seconds it'll lunge forward
h7y : hmm, try having someone else drive it
h7y : see if they feel it, it might be in your head
h7y : if not, i don't know, that's really odd
h7y : maybe a belt slipping?
Jape213 : yeah
Jape213 : hmmm
Jape213 : I'm gonna post this chat into a thread
Jape213 : lucky you.

Thanks for any input... I put the rims on and last summer they were balanced and everything, and I really dont remember this happening last summer.. .any input would be great...

maybe as your accelerating you might of ran over like a sewer cover on the streets when its wet and your tires might've slipped then when it hit the road again it just grabed again. or slipping on the little road nipples. could be the clutch too but i doubt it. and it could be your belt slipping. those are the only possibilities i can think of except you just imagining it.

it is a long shot, but check your axles and hub bearings. Maybe the extra rotational mass spun a bearing or something.

it happens a lot, it wasn't just one time.......

I'll check that stuff you said, dohcpower, but much like my compression tester, I'll stare at it, touch it, and go find something else to look at..

My car does the same thing in the morning as I am leaving to work. I'll be in first, or second and I't feels kinda boggy and it lets up for a few seconds and it repeats this. I have no idea what it is, just assumed it was still warming up or something I guess.
